The Endless Night Plot/Synopsis

The trailer starts off by showing a prolific club night with teenagers having fun and dancing when a fire engulfs the entirety of Kiss Club. Family members soon started getting calls of their children being in the fire and that their family members have been injured. Additionally, both police officers and firefighters are so horrified by the scene that they can barely do their jobs. Netflix’s description of the miniseries reads, “A fire at Nightclub Kiss, which killed 242 people at the nightclub in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, in 2013.”

Those family members who cannot find their children among the injured victims go on to identify them from the hundreds of dead bodies laid out. The harrowing image is coupled with a funeral taking place right after this. Families of the victims have gotten together to form their own support group, sharing pictures and stories of the people who died in the fire. There are a couple of hundred pictures on the wall really explain the gravity of the situation.

Grieving families who had close relationships with their members are now left alone to deal with their emotions all by themselves. However, this despair does not mean that they are giving up on their children. At the prosecution office, the parents explained that they trusted the club and the city to keep their kids safe, and this incident was a gruesome oversight and security issue.

Police officers take a look at the club and arrest the owners while looking into the papers that show that the club has been consistently ignoring the safety code and conducts. The whole club has been a fire hazard for ages. They note that this isn’t just big. It is criminal that they were able to hide it for so long.

The Endless Night explores the rally for justice that the grieving families are putting up, the circles around the justice system they need to take to make sure their voice is heard and the corruption that keeps incidents like these in the dark.

  1. Good article, but just to clearify, “the endless night” is a brazilian miniseries. The miniseries is in portuguese because that’s brazilians first language, but when you say “portuguese miniseries” it means it’s from Portugal.
