The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 9 Recap Contains Spoilers

The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 9 starts with Hunter, Tech, Wrecker and Omega landing on another new planet. They’re here for Cid’s other mission to get their hands on ipsium. It is a valuable mineral when refined and a very combustible material in its raw state. Wrecker and Omega look out for any poachers, and Tech and Hunter head inside the mine.

When they all are carrying out their mission, someone is keeping an eye on them, especially their ship Marauder. When Hunter and Tech enter the mine, they realise very little ipsium is left. There’s a small opening where the two cannot fit, so they ask Omega for help.

Outside, Omega tells Wrecker that she feels weird without Echo around. Tech calls Omega for help, and she heads inside, leaving Wrecker alone. Omega successfully and safely extracts ipsium. Once they get what they have come for, they all head outside.

The men discuss how they can get back their ship, whereas Omega is still sad, and her face shows that she is missing Echo. She even tries to contact him, but Hunter and Tech tell her he is far away on a mission.

With so much happening, Omega feels overwhelmed and wants to return to the ship as soon as possible. She again mentions Echo and how much she misses him. However, Tech doesn’t understand what she is going through. She’s upset and goes deeper inside the other mine to be with herself. Tech follows her. As she goes inside the mine, she finds lots of ipsium. Tech apologises to her, and they decide to extract ipsium for Cid.

When the two are working together, Omega accidentally slips and falls inside the cavern, and Tech again follows her. The duo is swept away by an underground river. The river helps them find a way outside the mine. Tech contacts Hunter and informs them about the alternate way out.

When Tech and Omega wait for their friends to come to the river, the duo gets into a hearty conversation. Omega is still sad about not being able to contact Echo. She accuses Tech of not caring when everything around them is changing. She asks Tech why he is unbothered about Echo leaving them. He tells her that’s what soldiers do. But Omega says, “We are a family, aren’t we?” Tech agrees, and she asks him why he doesn’t act like they’re a family.

Tech explains to her that both Echo and Crosshair chose a different path, and he has to respect their decision. Tech tells her that he processes moments and thoughts differently, but that doesn’t mean he feels things less than her. Hunter and Wrecker arrive, and they all head out of the mine with newly extracted ipsium.

They’re saddened as they find no way to leave the planet. But Tech tells them he can send a signal to Cid for help. But Cid refuses to help them. Tech reminds her that they need her help, like they helped her to regain control of her parlour from Roland Durand and cleared her debt from Millegi. She asks them for a few days to find a way to help them. Omega tells them they will together figure out a way to get out of the planet, as they’ve always done.

The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 9 Review: Final Thoughts

Omega is right when she says that everything is changing. With Echo not being with them, the clones have a tough time carrying out the mission. The episode was okay, and the highlight was Omega and Tech’s conversation by the river.

The new episode is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
