The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 8 Review/Recap: Truth and Consequences

The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 8 titled ‘Truth and Consequences’ is now out on Disney+ Hotstar. The Star Wars animated series has Dee Bradley Baker voicing Hunter, Tech, Echo, Crosshair, Wrecker and Rex. Michelle Ang voices Omega, Noshir Dalal has lent his voice to Admiral Rampart, Jennifer Hale is Senator Chuchi, and Ian Mcdiarmid has voiced Emperor Palpatine. Created by Dave Filoni, the new episode is of 28 minutes approx.

The synopsis for The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 8 reads, “Brought into a risky mission, the Batch must use stealth to survive.”

The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 8 Recap Contains Spoilers

The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 8 starts with Hunter, Omega, Echo, Tech and Wrecker travelling back after saving Gunji. Rex contacts them and asks them to come to Coruscant. Hunter is doubtful of going to a place where the Empire has its present. But Rex assures them of safety.

Rex welcomes them all and introduces them to Senator Riyo Chuchi. He shows them the body of Admiral Rampart’s assassin. The Senator tells them everything that happened with Slip. Rex tells them there’s a command log on Rampart’s Venator that would help them, and Slip made a copy of it on the ship’s backup data bank. The Venator is arriving at Coruscant.

Senator Chuchi tells everyone that Rampart’s Defense Recruitment Bill goes to vote the next day. They have to prove his crime before it happens. Omega goes with the Senator, and they meet Vice Admiral Rampart. The Senator takes Omega to the Senate building. She tells Omega everything she wants to do to change things in the galaxy.

Senator Chuchi tells everything that happened with Slip and her to Senator Organa. She also tells him some special clones will help her expose Rampart. Senator Burtoni meets Senator Chuchi, and the latter asks her about the missing Senate appropriation funds that were earmarked for operations on Kamino.

Senator Chuchi tells her what’s happening with the Clones and the cloning facility. Senator Burtoni tells her that she knows everything about the clones. Burtoni tells Chuchi she’s taking a big risk by digging around for answers. Burtoni, who’s from Kamino, tells her that her people are gone, and the few scattered in the galaxy are useless. Omega is with them when this conversation takes place.

Omega asks Senator Burtoni how she cannot care. Burtoni questions why she cares, and Omega tells her that she’s a clone and it is home. Omega tells Burtoni how she saw the Empire destroy everything, and she’s angry. Burtoni says she suspected an attack and that Lama Su was arrogant about making clones for the Empire.

Senator Chuchi again asks Senator Burtoni if Admiral Rampart diverted the funds for the attack. Burtoni says yes. Riyo Chuchi tells Burtoni that she should testify in front of the Senate tomorrow and shouldn’t let Rampart get away with it and let him continue to do what he’s doing. Burtoni tells her that her words won’t mean much and they need big proof against him.

While all this is happening, Hunter, Echo, Tech, Wrecker and Rex try to get their hands on the Venator. However, it is surrounded by many stormtroopers. They somehow manage to get onto the ship. They breach the security to access what they want, which alerts the stormtroopers. Once the data transfer is complete, they escape despite the hurdles.

At the Senate Assembly, Vice Admiral Rampart tells other senators and members that there is no reason to delay the vote on the bill. Senator Chuchi tells him he has given them a reason not to let it happen. She tells everyone that according to Halle Burtoni, Rampart was responsible for diverting the Kaminoan funding to outside projects without Senate approval.

Echo hands over the data to Omega and tells her to give it to Senator Chuchi. At the Senate building, Riyo and Rampart are at war on words. She accuses Rampart of eliminating the Kaminoan facility. Omega hands over the data to Senator Organa, who hands it to Chuchi. When she plays the file, everyone can see how Kamino was attacked.

Suddenly, Emperor Palpatine and his guard mark their presence and arrest and detain Vice Admiral Rampart. Palpatine tells everyone that he is deeply troubled by the recent revelation. He thanks Senator Chuchi for bringing forward the truth. He assures that Rampart will face the consequences of his actions. He also blames the clones for following his orders and tells everyone why the bill’s passing is important.

After everything, Senator Chuchi and Rex meet Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Echo and Omega again. They discuss everything that happened and how Palpatine was several steps ahead of them. They all worry about what will happen to them. The senator tells them that she will keep fighting for them. Echo decides to go with Rex and help the other clones. Omega gets emotional listening to his decision. But he makes her understand his point of view.

The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 8 Review: Final Thoughts

The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 8 is packed with some powerful moments. Rex and Clone Force 99 reunion was unexpected. No one expected Emperor Palpatine to make an appearance and shock everyone. Hunter and others said that the Empire was several steps ahead of them. It was a loss despite the fact they won against Rampart with the truth. To get what they want, Palpatine doesn’t mind sacrificing his people.

Now that the bill will be passed and Echo won’t be there with others, one can expect the series to branch out more. The clones’ future is jeopardised, but we can’t wait to see how it affects Crosshair.

The new episode is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
