The Aquatope on White Sand is the latest anime by the Anime Studio P.A. Works, previously known for producing critically and commercially acclaimed anime like Angel Beats and Another. Toshiya Shinohara directs the series, a director whose career so far has been intrinsically linked with P.A. works, having previously directed Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara and Nagi no Asu kara for the studio before. It is an original series by P.A. works, which means it is not based on a previously existing property, such as a Manga or a Light Novel.

Well, this episode was just a delight to experience. We as a society often forget that the most important thing that we have to take care of at the end of the day is ourselves. It is necessary for our physical and mental well-being to take a break every once in a while, or we risk getting burnt out of everything we love or rely upon to fulfil our daily needs. Hence, episodes like The Aquatope on White Sand Episode 17 come as welcome additions to our lives that inspire us to take it easy sometimes.

A good slice of life can make you laugh, cry, and experience multiple other emotions despite talking about the most mundane topics.

The Aquatope on White Sand Episode 17 carried the true essence of a slice of life anime and was a lovely experience to boot. We saw all our favourite characters have a get-together and have a great time together, without worrying about management, attendant experience, or even the rivalry between Tingaara and former Gama Gama employees. It was just about the present, how they lived it, and how we got to be there with them.

Kukuru, Fuuka, and Udon-chan host a party in their homes, and the entire cast that we currently have in the show comes to visit, including Chiyu and other Tingaara originals like Marina. It was a great time as there was food, games, and other forms of interaction to be enjoyed between the characters we all know and love. It was great to watch the relationships develop and improve in front of our eyes, and taking a break from the narrative helps it once in a while.

I think the main thing to note about The Aquatope on White Sand Episode 17 is that I came out in a much better headspace than I went into it, which was a direct result of the tremendous joy I derived from vicariously living through the characters. I believe everyone should try to have such an experience once in a while, so I highly recommend this episode to everyone who knows about the show.

The Aquatope on White Sand Episode 17 Review- Art and Music

When Aquatope is not focusing on beautiful landscapes and exquisite aquatic life, some cracks start to show on the characters’ faces if you decide to dig deep. The faces look just a little off when in the background, and the P.A. Works is a lot better at animating beautiful surroundings than human expressions, it seems. That isn’t a knock on the animation of The Aquatope on White Sand Episode 17, as it is one of the most beautiful looking anime running this season. It is just a quirk that I’ve come to notice after all this time.

There wasn’t much different to say about the music this episode, so I’ll just say that I love the opening and ending themes that the show has currently and move on.

Verdict

The Aquatope on White Sand Episode 17 was a lovely episode full of satisfying slice of life elements and fantastic character interactions. This episode comes highly recommended if you just want to have a fantastic time while watching something.
