Thallumaala is Netflix’s Malayalam language action comedy that is set to make you laugh as you try to understand if you’re in a flashback or in the present. Directed by Khalid Rahman and produced by Ashiq Usman, the movie stars Tovino Thomas, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Shine Tom Chacko alongside other cast members.
The plot of Thallumaala follows a guy who comes across unexpected friendships while trying to move forward with his love story and getting married. However, while the friends come easy to him, the wedding plans are interrupted by a series of comic events.
Netflix’s synopsis of the movie reads:
Waseem is young, carefree and often drawn to fights. But when love blooms with a star vlogger, the impact of his fists could have disastrous effects.

The movie starts off with a beaten-up Waseem and Reji as the former recalls where his problems really started. As we are taken back to six months prior to this fight between the two, we witness Waseem’s wedding which takes a disastrous turn when his nemesis Siyad sprays foam on his face.
This breaks a thread in Waseem’s head as he creates havoc at his own wedding by starting a fight after punching Siyad in his face. While we would call this unnecessary, the movie goes on to tell us why he took such a drastic step.
I have to say, the movie really did fulfil the comedy and action criteria very well which was entertaining enough to give it a watch. While the plot may not reach your mark, and the many flashbacks that we see throughout the movie can leave you confused; it is still an entertainer.

If you just read the synopsis then you would most probably expect a dramatic ending which would have the best action that we would see in the movie. But to be true, there is enough action throughout the movie because our protagonist Waseem really is quite a hothead.
Another point would be the friendship that we see in the movie which is clearly supporting the idea of guys becoming friends after a fight. While we may roll our eyes at the typical guy behaviour, it is still hilarious and we cannot deny that.
When speaking about friendship, there will come times when you can even relate to Waseem who is trying to balance out his new and old friends who are clearly not getting together. Especially throughout his wedding preparations, which really makes you want to laugh because some of us know how that feels.

Adding on, there aren’t many romantic scenes in the movie and the love story part is quite fast-moving, but it will still bring out the comedy that will keep you pleased.

This is a Malayalam language movie with English subtitles that really brings out the laughter in you. Even the lyrics of the songs have some really funny translations that make you think about what is happening.
Altogether, it is an action comedy filled with entertainment that is perfect for a lazy afternoon when you’ve got nothing to do or watch. A movie perfect for when you just want something to watch to pass the time.
