Jessica Chastain Defends Succession’s Jeremy Strong on Behalf of Aaron Sorkin, Twitter Reacts

The hit piece by The New Yorker Magazine on Succession star Jeremy Strong who plays Kendall Roy in the show has received a lot of attention recently. The article which was published on December 6, 2021, was titled ‘On Succession, Jeremy Strong doesn’t get the joke’ and talked about Strong’s approach to acting and his career, in general with quotes from the other Succession cast members, including Brian Cox, who plays Logan Roy in the show (Kendall’s father).

On December 8, 2021, Scenes from a Marriage actress Jessica Chastain took over her Twitter handle to respond to the article describing it as “snark”. Chastain has worked with Strong on the 2012 film Zero Dark Thirty and also in the 2017 Molly’s Game.

Chastain tweeted: “I’ve known Jeremy Strong for 20yrs & worked with him on 2 films. He’s a lovely person. Very inspiring & passionate about his work. The profile that came out on him was incredibly one-sided. Don’t believe everything you read folks. Snark sells but maybe it’s time we move beyond it.”

However, Chastain did not stop there. As Twitter went on to discuss the remarks made on Strong, she posted a letter by Aaron Sorkin talking about Strong as the director ‘doesn’t have social media’. The letter stated Strong being a great actor and how the article represented a “distorted picture” of the actor and his acting process.
