Stay Close: Everything to Know About Netflix’s Upcoming Crime Drama

Netflix brings to us another Harlen Coben adaptation titled Stay Close. This new crime drama miniseries is a part of Coben’s five-year deal with Netflix which allows the OTT to develop 14 of Coben’s novels into original Netflix series or films and has the writer serving as the executive producer for all the projects.

Prior to Stay Close, we have already seen The Stanger release on Netflix UK followed by The Woods (Poland) and The Innocent (Spain). This series is getting produced by Red Production Company for Netflix and is based on Harlen Coben’s novel of the same name. Coben is also writing the screenplay for this series.

What is the premise of Stay Close?

The premise of Stay Close leans towards a mix of Netflix’s Broadchurch and HBO’s Big Little Lies. The crime drama will show us a group of people living pretentious happy lives as they hide their dark secrets within. However, life does not stay the same always.

At the centre of the story is Megan- a working mother, Ray- a failed photojournalist and Broome- a detective haunted by a missing person’s case gone cold. These lives are changed when Lorraine, a mysterious woman from Megan’s past drops a piece of news that impacts all three lives and haunts them as they revisit their past.

When is the series releasing & how many episodes?

Stay Close arrives on Netflix on New Year’s Eve i.e., Friday, 31st December. The series will tentatively release around 4:30 AM ET or 1:30 PM IST. Keeping in mind that this will be a miniseries, we can expect a short amount of episodes. The series will be only eight episodes long with all episodes released together on Netflix.

Who is part of the cast?

The cast includes some known faces and some unknown. We have Cush Jumbo as Megan, James Nesbitt as Broome, Richard Armitage as Ray and Sarah Parish as Lorraine. There’s also Eddie Izzard, Jo Joyner, Youssef Kerkour, Daniel Francis, Dylan Francis, Tallulah Byrne, Andi Osho, Bethany Antonia, Rachel Andrews, Poppy Gilbert, Hyoie O’Grady and Phillip Gascoyne. With such names in the actors’ list, we can only expect some stellar performances to take over our screens and hearts.
