Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 1 Review and Recap

If, by any odd chance, you forgot about the first season of this anime, do not worry, as there will be a recap at the beginning of this episode. But after that, you only witness greatness.
This episode begins as a very normal one, with our hero visiting his sister’s school for a parent-teacher meeting. The obvious physical change within her brother even makes Jinah, Jinwoo’s sister, question what must have happened to him. As this is a positive development, she does not enquire any further, but we know how drastically Jinwoo turned from a failure to a hero and what he had to go through to achieve that.

However, now that he is in a position to understand the absurdity and dangers of the dungeon, he doesn’t want his sister to be a part of it. This is also why Jinah’s teacher requests Jinwoo to guide Jinah’s friend, Songyi and attempt to dissuade her from dungeon hunting. Even though Jinwoo has changed vehemently from a physical stance, mentally and emotionally, he is still a helpful and responsible man who takes it upon himself to tag along with Songyi to a seemingly low-ranking dungeon so that he can show her the hardships of hunting first-hand. However, just like the very first episode of season 1, this dungeon also had its own plans.

A normal C-level dungeon turns into the ominous red dungeon, surviving which is achieved by only a very few high-ranking hunters. Had Jinwoo been his former self, he would have been the first one to die. Thankfully, he is not the hunted anymore but rather a dangerous hunter whose presence should pose a threat to the beings of the dungeon itself.
We see an example of it towards the end of this episode, which stamps the fact that Jinwoo is officially unstoppable.
Verdict

This episode leaves you hyped and at the edge of your seat with the production value, animation and music. The quality of this anime franchise went drastically up after its first season’s success, and you could feel it through the overall experience you get. The biggest highlight of this episode is the very first usage of the shadow soldiers and Igris, by their new king, Jinwoo.
I really cannot wait for the next episode, as this season is going to go absolutely bonkers in the best way possible.
