Society Of The Snow Plot
This movie offers a compelling retelling of the harrowing true story stemming from the tragic Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 disaster in the Andes Mountains in 1972. With 45 passengers and crew aboard, notably including members of the Old Christians Club rugby union team, the plot revolves around the survivors’ plight after the crash landing on a glacier.
Lost and disoriented, the survivors prioritise caring for the most injured among them while grappling with their isolation. They couldn’t even spot passing planes and felt abandoned, unable to communicate their distress via the radio. Struggling in freezing conditions, their attempts to trek out were thwarted by both the weather and their injuries. With dwindling provisions, they faced the grim reality of their impending demise.
