Apple TV+ isn’t slowing down anymore, and has now released the official teaser of the Rebecca Ferguson starrer Silo series on March 6, 2023, as well. Ever since the the breakout of the COVID-19 pandemic, a new age of dystopian fiction storylines has emerged, sparking hope for the genre that was once thought to have died down.

The upcoming series seeks its context and source material from Hugh Howey’s book series of the same name, which started with the short story titled Wool. Moreover, the plot so adapted for the streaming platform, this series along with the other dystopian stories now on the rise, are all distinct from the ones we used to crave for earlier, which were usually foregrounded by a dominant young-adult character panel. However, this sci-fi drama series pays attention to its adult characters who are still trying their best to get accustomed to their lives deep under the ground.
Set in a toxic, post-apocalyptic, world in the future, numerous lives can only thrive inside silos located thousand stories underground. The ones who step out of these gigantic structures, never come back, and the ones who are inside are shut in forever. Believing in the protocols set by certain authorities, the human communities who have been able to survive the unsaid horrors so far, have done so by following the rules set in place for them.
However, even though these containers may seem like the utopia people were desperately in need for, they’re still entrapments all the same. Endless questions hang in the air, but are always left unanswered, until Juliette (Ferguson) takes a stand and starts digging into shocking dark secrets which reveal that truth may be even deadlier than the lies they’re all being fed.

Silo directed by Morten Tyldum and written by Graham Yost starts streaming on Apple TV+ on May 5. It also stars Tim Robbins, Rashida Jones, David Oyelowo, Common and others alongside the Ferguson, who has stopped in as one of the executive producers of the series as well. Hugh Howey, the author of the best-selling book series, is also playing the same role among many others involved in the production.
