-Shrinking Episode 8 Recap Does Contain Spoilers-

Shrinking Episode 8 starts with Jimmy and Gaby trying to comfort Alice with the grand revelation of their one-night stand. And start to make things awkward for her after providing some unnecessary (and extended) information about the act. As usual, the angsty teenager tries to evade the entire conversation but eventually falls prey to the grown-up talk.

Furthermore, the subplot of the episode revolves around Liz and Sean accompanying Gaby to her ex-husband’s art show in order to be sure that she doesn’t fall flat. Notably, Liz’s entire idea behind visiting the art gallery is another way to check on her ex-husband, who might not be in his best shape. The episode also looms into a bonding-type situation between Liz and Gaby, eventually transforming into the best of buddies on the show.

On the third front, Paul tries to ring her daughter Meg a couple of times, but to no use. At one point, Meg’s husband makes it pretty clear that her daughter is quite enraged with his decision to not move in with their family, and it might not be the best of time to contact her.

Therefore, when Alice has her usual chit-chat session with Paul in the park, the veteran therapist lays out his frustration on Alice. Paul ignores her talk about a “Vespa Guy” asking her out and instead vents on his own issues.

Furthermore, as a result, Alice loses her cool with Paul and leaves him alone with his candy sticks. And even though the grumpy shrink realizes his mistake, it becomes too late to stop the angsty teenager.

The episode leans into a fun chapter when Jimmy notices that his car is missing and that Brian has something important to convey. Moreover, when he relays the information to Paul, he jumps up straight at his mistake and joins the duo to locate Alice. Plus, during the rescue ride, Brian informs Jimmy about his decision to deny him the officiating rights.

As expected, Jimmy takes it all to the heart and tries to balance his frustration with Brian and Alice. During the deduction process, the trio reaches a garden party, and finds out that Alice has headed out with the “Vespa Guy”.

The most unusual Paw Petrol trio saves Alice from the creep, followed by a death stare from Paul. Meanwhile, Gaby also loses her cool at the art gallery and goes on a complete rant about her ex-husband. In the end, Jimmy decides to let go of his guilt (to punish others) and grounds, Alice, for two months.

Shrinking Episode 8
A still from Shrinking Episode 8

The latest instalment of Shrinking simply claims the title of the “Most Fun-Filled Episode”. It was high on humour, monologues, candy sticks and death stares. And even though the underlying issue was completely serious, the message was conveyed in a light-hearted manner.

There is not a single fragment of doubt inside my mind, about Harrison Ford’s well-deserved Emmy Award. The veteran star has claimed his ground with the role of Paul and has essayed the performance with utmost sincerity. Moreover, his transition into a hard-hitting unintentionally funny guy has turned into a complete treat every Friday.

The best part of the episode has to be the trio of Paw Petrol search by Jimmy, Brian and Paul. The entire segment felt like a never-ending bit, that started to gain momentum with each step. Moreover, the ultimate conclusion was neatly done and felt really satisfying.

All in all, Shrinking is turning out to be one of the best shows on television right now. It has all the ingredients for a well-balanced, nuanced and mature take on emotions, that offers something unique each time it airs.
