Lovecraft Country to The Irregulars: Shows That Got Cancelled in 2021

Streaming platforms cancelling shows isn’t new. Yet, whenever it happens, viewers are sad. Fans feel betrayed whenever their favourite show gets axed. This year was no different. A lot of content releases and some was hailed, some failed to impress. In this list, we will tell you some shows that got cancelled in 2021.

From Netflix to Amazon Prime Video, various platforms have cancelled some shows after the first season itself. We listed 5 such popular shows that got cancelled and baffled everyone.

Shows That Got Cancelled in 2021:

Jupiter’s Legacy

Jupiter’s Legacy had an amazing star cast Josh Duhamel, Ben Daniels, Leslie Bibb, Elena Kampouris, Andrew Horton, Mike Wade and Matt Lanter. The superhero series showed us how the families of superheroes are messed up like normal people. No power can solve the differences between parents and their children. It was intense, action-packed, and different from many superhero dramas we’ve seen so far. The series was released on May 7, 2021.

Sadly, the show was cancelled by Netflix on June 3. Reports state that the series won’t renew due to creative differences between creator Mark Millar and the streaming platform. On his Twitter page, Mark said that Jupiter’s Legacy is a vast space, and he will come up with a spin-off series soon.

Diary of a Future President

Disney+ cancelled the show after 2 seasons. The second season was released on August 18, 2021. The comedy-drama featured Tess Romero, Gina Rodriguez, Selenis Leyva, Charlie Bushnell and Michael Weaver. The series is about a middle school girl Elena (Tess), who wishes to be the future President of the US.

On December 14, series creator Ilana Peña revealed on Twitter that the series was cancelled. Ilana wrote, “We found out that #diaryofafuturepresident is not moving forward with a season 3 at Disney+. Of course, we would love to continue telling this story. But I am filled with so much gratitude for the 2 seasons that we did get to make.”

Panic

Amazon Prime Video called Panic, a young adult drama starring Camron Jones, Ray Nicholson and Olivia Welch. It is based on Lauren Oliver’s best-selling novel of the same name. It’s a show about graduating seniors and how they participate in a competition as their way to “escape” from everything.

As per the reports, the streaming platform believed that the first season showed the entire competition. So it was a satisfying conclusion and didn’t need another season.

Lovecraft Country

After just one season, HBO cancelled Lovecraft Country this year. The horror drama starred Jurnee Smollett, Jonathan Majors, Aunjanue Ellis, and others. The show received immense appreciation with its release. Hence, the news of the show getting axed shocked fans.

In a statement to Variety, HBO chief content officer Casey Bloys had said, “When you make the decision to not go forward with a show, it’s usually a confluence of factors. And that was the case here. It has to be something we think makes sense for us. In this case, we couldn’t get there.”

The Irregulars

The Irregulars, a supernatural series based during the times of Sherlock Holmes, was cancelled by Netflix just after one season. The series stars Royce Pierreson, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Thaddea Graham, Darci Shaw, McKell David, Jojo Macari, and Harrison Osterfield and was released on March 2021. But after 6 weeks of its release, it got cancelled. No specific reason is provided for the same.
