Rudra Trailer: Ajay Devgn in a Dark and Gritty Psychological Crime Drama

Hotstar Specials’ Rudra Trailer is out now and, yes, it does make you feel like you are at the edge of darkness. Starring Sooryavanshi’s Ajay Devgn in the titular role, the web series marks the debut of the blockbuster actor. Created for the streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar, the series is going to be based on the British TV show by Neil Cross titled Luther, which stars actor Idris Elba in the title role. The show is directed by Ferrari Ki Sawaari director Rajesh Mapuskar.

The trailer for the show is gripping with cinematography and a background score that sets the grim and dark tone the series will be following. The Hotstar Specials will also feature other cast members that include Raashi Khanna, Esha Deol, Atul Kulkarni, Ashwini Kalsekar, Ashish Vidyarthi, Milind Gunaji, Luke Kenny, Vikram Singh Chauhan and Hemant Kher.

Rudra: The Edge of Darkness

The trailer shows actor Ajay Devgn in a never before seen avatar. Devgn is well known for playing the cop in films like Singham and Gangaajal, yet in this show the actor’s character seems on an over-the-edge, obsessive and, not solely righteous in his justice-seeking ways. Following the cue of the original BBC show, we see how Devgn as Rudra is a brilliant cop who has witnessed many heinous crimes that makes him mentally disturbed and reckless with his demeanour.

Looking at the trailer, we can guess that Esha Deol will play the love interest of our titular character, which hints at the character of Zoe Luther in the original. Whereas Raashi Khanna seems like a grey character, similar to Alice Morgan in the original.
