Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts is now streaming for all the Potterheads on various streaming platforms. In India, fans got to watch the wonderful and star-studded reunion on Amazon Prime Video India. As the film franchise completed 20 years, most star casts came together to share beautiful memories with fans. The cool trio Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint also made a splash with their appearances.
The Harry Potter reunion was an emotional moment not only for the fans but the star cast too. From reminiscing how they learned about Harry Potter books to thinking it’s a kid’s movie to getting emotionally attached to their characters, actors have gotten their candid best. Was it a perfect reunion? I don’t think so. But it did have some wonderful moments, and I’ve mentioned my favourite ones in the article below.
Take a look at some magical moments from Return to Hogwarts’ Harry Potter Reunion:
Emma Watson and Rupert Grint
Emma Watson and Rupert Grint played Harry’s (Daniel) BFFs, Hermoine Granger and Ron Weasley. The reunion was evidence of how much Emma and Rupert admire and respect each other. Emma seems to be highly attached to the franchise, and Rupert remembers every big or small moment with her.
From how they got cast to the growing bond on the sets and Ron and Hermoine’s first kiss in the final film, they narrate every beautiful narrative beautifully. But in the last 15 minutes, they leave you in tears. They get emotional as they express the adoration and love they have for each other. I am happy (also sobbing) that we got to see them so much at the reunion.
Daniel Radcliffe’s Autograph Letter to Helena Bonham Carter
Daniel and Helena, who plays Bellatrix Lestrange, discuss their scenes and memories. Helena brings a pic on her phone, a letter that young Dan wrote her years ago. She makes Radcliffe read it. The letter goes like this – “Dear HBC, It was a pleasure being your costar and coaster in the sense that I always ended up holding your coffee.”
“I do love you And I just wish I had been born 10 years earlier I might have had a chance. Lots of love and thanks for being cool,” mentions the letter further. It was such an adorable moment to witness. Dan couldn’t stop blushing while Helena was still cool about it. We know boys had a crush on Emma. We now find out that Dan also had a crush on Helena and even amusingly confessed the same.
Emma Watson and Tom Felton’s Confession
Emma Watson shared the exact moment she fell in love with Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy). Tom, three years older than her, saw her as his “little sister”.
About the exact moment, she fell in love with Tom, Emma shares, “I walked into the room where we were having tutoring. The assignment that had been given was to draw what you thought God looked like, and Tom had drawn a girl with a backward cap on a skateboard. And I just don’t know how to say it – I just fell in love with him. I used to come in every day and look for his number on the call sheet, it was number seven, and if his name was on the call sheet, it was an extra exciting day. He was three years above me and so for him, he was like, ‘You’re like, my little sister’.”
Felton also says, “I think I was in the hair and make-up chair and someone said something along the lines of, ‘Yeah, she had a crush on you. I became very protective over her. Yeah, I’ve always had a soft spot for her and that continues to this day. There’s always been something that’s like, I don’t know, a kinship.” Emma further states that nothing romantic ever happened between her and Tom.
The Weasleys are a crucial part of the Harry Potter franchise and Harry Potter’s life. They are his family where he’s smothered with lots of love. I always felt that the Weasleys are the most underrated magical families. It was good to see Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley), James Phelps-Oliver Phelps (Fred and George), and Bonnie Wright (Ginnie Weasley) sit together and talk about their characters, the Burrow and Molly Weasley (Jule Walters).
The segment proved how much each actor understood the Weasleys. Just like us, they were also fascinated by the magic inside the Weasley house.
The closing 15 minutes of Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts are intensely moving. Suddenly, we see the ‘Always’ scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 with Dumbledore and Snape. When you hear ‘Always,’ you don’t need to say anything. It’s the end of the episode. But not the end of the love people have for the magical world of Hogwarts and its characters.
