Thalaiva Rajinikanth Receives The Esteemed Dadasaheb Phalke Award For His Contribution To Film Industry

Renowned actor down south Superstar Rajinikanth was felicitated by the Dadasaheb Phalke Award which is considered to be India’s supreme film honour given to brilliant actors of various industries. Rajinikanth was showered with this honour by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on 25th October 2021. The overwhelmed actor devoted the award to his makers, industry, and his fans.

Rajinikanth was accompanied by his family members including his wife Latha, daughter Aishwarya and son-in-law Dhanush who could not keep calm sitting in the crowd and kept constantly cheering him. Rajinikanth remembered his journey to stardom from being just a bus conductor to a prominent figure down south. He also recalled his old companion who had suggested that he join films and thanked him for it.

Jury members comprising of Asha Bhosle, Shankar Mahadevan, Mohanlal, Biswajeet Chatterjee, and Subhash Ghai chose Rajinikanth’s name to be awarded the glory this year. Icon of Bengal Cinema, Biswajeet Chatterjee expressed his views on selecting Rajinikanth for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and said that the superstar is a gifted and realistic individual.

On Sunday, 24th October Rajinikanth took to his Twitter handle and posted the news of being felicitated with the prestigious award. He released a statement that read. “Tomorrow is an important occasion for me with two special landmarks. One, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, being conferred upon me by the Government of India because of the love and support of the people.” Rajinikanth also thanked Narendra Modi, Prakash Javadekar, and the jury for conferring upon the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award on him and dedicated it to all those who have been a part of his journey. He ended his tweet by thanking the almighty.
