People’s Choice Awards Nominations: Squid Game, BTS and Others Make it to the List

The popularity of K-pop and K-drama are ready to take over the world, be it Netflix’s blockbuster ‘Squid Game’ or BTS landing up the honour and opportunity at the United Nations Headquarters or, the latest honour of bagging a place at the People’s Choice Awards Nominations! The 2021 list for this award show has some valuable and deserving mentions belonging to the Korean entertainment industry.

Voted by the likes of the general public through online mediums, the People’s Choice Awards is truly for the people as the power lies in their hands. The award show recognizes people in the entertainment industry which includes cinema, music and more. Let us have a look at this year’s nomination list.

People’s Choice Awards Nomination List ft., K-pop & K-drama

Netflix’s billion-dollar success ‘Squid Game’ starring Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo, Wi Ha Joon, Jung Ho Yeon, Anupam Tripathi and more, has finally made it to its first nomination. The show has been nominated for “The Bingeworthy Show of 2021” category, sharing the space with series like ‘Loki’, ‘Mare of Easttown’, ‘Ted Lasso’, ‘The White Lotus’ and others.

Meanwhile, the boy band BTS has grabbed a place in ‘The Group of 2021’ and ‘The Song of 2021’ for ‘Butter’. However, that does not exhaust the list as the septet is also nominated for ‘The Music Video of 2021’ twice for ‘Butter’ and for their collaborative single with Coldplay ‘My Universe’. Last year BTS had won four awards nominated for the same category as mentioned above and also for ‘The Album of 2020’ for ‘Map of the Soul: 7’.

This year we also see nominations for TOMORROW X TOGETHER for ‘The New Artist of 2021’ sharing the list with names including 24kGoldn, Bella Poarch, Giveon, Olivia Rodrigo, The Kid LAROI and others.

The People’s Choice Awards 2021 is scheduled to be held on December 7 2021 at 9 PM ET (December 8 at 6:30 AM IST).
