Well, looks like Peacemaker is getting quite the fame by being one of the surprisingly good releases of 2022. The superhero miniseries is created by Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad’s James Gunn for HBO Max. Based on the DC comics, we first saw John Cena take on the role in the 2021 Suicide Squad movie. It also marks the first DCEU TV series and the spin-off of the 2021 film.
With Cena playing the titular role, he is joined by Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick in this show. The recurring cast includes Annie Chang, Lochlyn Munro, Elizabeth Ludlow, Rizwan Manji, Alison Araya, Lenny Jacobson, Nhut Le and Christopher Heyerdahl. The show first premiered on January 13, 2022, with three episodes in the first go and follows a weekly release per episode thereafter.
The show has been very well received by critics and fans alike for its goofy take on being a vigilante and, for the sheer brilliance of John Cena’s performance. However, a lot of people have had their reservations for the series because, well, it isn’t Batman, right? But, this new DC character deserves a chance and we are here, to provide it with one!

Well, if this wasn’t enough to sell you, let us give you some context of what Peacemaker covers. The show is set after the events of the film where we first witness Cena in the role. It follows a jingoistic killer Christopher Smith aka Peacemaker when he joins the “Project Butterfly”. We much like the Suicide Squad we know, this Project Butterfly consists of black ops squad that targets extra-terrestrial parasitic butterfly-like creatures. So, a mix of science fiction with all that superhero glamour? Well, sounds pretty awesome to us!
You can watch the episodes of Peacemaker now on HBO Max. The series is short with the finale arriving sometime soon in February.
