Parallels Season 2: Has the Disney+ Science Fiction Series Been Renewed?

Even after the six quick and easy episodes that wrapped up the first season of Disney+’s latest science fiction series, the question of if there will be a Parallels Season 2 still remains intact. Yes, all our four major four characters fulfilled their own arcs of growing up and redeeming themselves. However, the big glitch at the end only prompts the audiences to expect the announcement of a potential season 2 for this unique series.

Created and written by Quoc Dang Tran, with Anastasia Heinzl also serving as the co-writer, Parallels is directed by Benjamin Rocher and Jean-Baptiste Saurel and, produced by Quoc Dang Tran, Raphaël Rocher, Eric Laroche under the production banners Digital Daïmôn Films and Empreinte Digitale. The French show stars Thomas Chomel as Samuel Deslandes (aka Sam), Jules Houplain as Victor Deslandes, Omar Mebrouk as Bilal Belkebirs, Jade Pedri as Romane Berthauds in central roles, along with Naidra Ayadi as Sofia Belkebirs, Guillaume Labbé as Retz, Romain Francisco as Laurent, Gil Alma as Arnaud Deslandes, Elise Diamant as Alice Deslandes and, others.

Will there be Parallels Season 2?

Parallels Season 1 ended with all the characters returning back to their original timelines and, Sofia discovering the video from her future self that recounts how they fixed the LHC glitch to make things go back to normal. The audiences are back to the cabin in the woods and, it is once again Bilal’s birthday night. However, when Bilal opens the gift given by his mother, his as well as the others’ memories from the parallel future comes flooding back. The answer as to why this happened remains unanswered, especially because Sofia does not get her memories back. This phenomenon unique to the kids leaves a lot of room for a season 2.

As for if Parallels Season 2 is happening or not, we can only say that it is still early to release the bird. Creator Quoc Dang Tran has also mentioned how if there is a season 2, it would not just be for the sake of it and, rather based on another concept that catches the attention of the audience. As of now, no new announcement has surfaced in regards to Parallels Season 2.

    • Yes, fun series. I do think that subplot will also be answered if there is a season 2 as we did see the picture of the kid at Retz’s office in the first episode.

  1. Would love to see why the kids got powers and if they still have them and if the others have any. Also you mentioned Sofia “not getting her memories back” but her future version didn’t go back so there weren’t any memories to return to her.

    • But, she did communicate with her future self through that video in the pen drive. So isn’t that supposed to act as a trigger to give her the memories of her future self?

  2. I was hoping they would find the first kid who vanished, a Season 2 could address this and I thought she said “kids” have disappeared, meaning there are possibly others.

  3. “memories from the parallel future comes flooding back. The answer as to why this happened remains unanswered, ” It is answered though. The doctor’s voiceover says that even one little thing can trigger someone’s memory and when bilal unwraps his gift just like older bilal did previously in the car, their memories come rushing back.

    • Right, but, the trigger is only working for the kids. Is it only when you time travel or it is due to any contact you make with your parallel self remains to be explained.

  4. what happened to the kid who disappears at the start of the series? we never got to find out where he went or if he ever got back. thats lazy on the part of the filmmakers (or was it because he was black???)

    • Well, I don’t think it has anything to do with the fact that the kid was black or not. The start was a rather build-up into what we are about to experience and, the first kid going missing can also be a potential premise for season 2.

  5. I would love to see a season 2. I would love to see the child at the beginning return, although that is unlikely since he has no reason to believe going back to that particular spot would have anything to do with what happened and he would have no idea when he should go there. I don’t think the reason it wasn’t addressed has anything to do with his race. If it were about that everyone in the series would be Anglo-Saxon. No Arabs, nothing. It was just a lead up to the story. But the people involved in the story could try to put his father somewhat more at ease with his sons disappearance by letting him know his son was not abducted or killed, and that he has been able to have his sons dog this whole time. Also, either way I would love to know what happened, especially since he was handicapped and his cane (?) did not travel with him. And because it happened in this town maybe Sophie (one of them) could help him wherever he wound up. Or even one of the Ballas.

  6. No. The memory paradox can only happen when the host travels the time stream. Memories can only be made via action. You can supplement memories via mental disruption of the psychosis but those wouldn’t be the same. The concept of “deja vu” relies upon an individual actually experiencing said event within the multiverse. Now, if her past self would have sent a video to her future self, then the video would cause a memory flux because it would cause the subconscious to pulsate. REM stasis works similar to this concept.

  7. I feel like they could go back to explain the first boy disappearance… that is the one thing they did not explain so there is definitely room fir another cool story… I’d recommend the series

  8. Yes, this exactly why there needs to be a season 2. Also it has me wondering if more kids have gone missing under the same circumstances. Season 2 could answer this question. As well as why the kids got powers abd how, also what happened to those powers when they returned?. .

  9. Someone may have addressed this, but fix your article; “Yes, all our four major four characters fulfilled”, take put one of those “four”‘s

  10. The kids travelled through time so only they would have memories. An idea for Season 2 would be the first kid, Hugo, either coming back from a Parallel universe or being retrieved and maybe the wrong version of him with powers like Viktor had.

  11. I hope they have a 2nd season, but I also wonder about things like…
    – We still have no answers on whether Milo (the kid who went missing in 2011, if that is his name because I could’ve forgotten) came back or never went missing because of the end of the last episode (and after seeing some other comments on here, I know I’m not the only one who’s curious).
-If they could possibly still have their powers/the other main characters get new ones (which is probably unlikely).
-If anything happened with the parallel where only Viktor and Bilal disappeared and the alternate parallels as well (if they did anything about their friend’s disappearances in those parallels that is and Bilal was the only one who did it/could do it).
    – If Sam was originally supposed to be the only one who didn’t disappear on his parrel, then that makes it possible for everyone else to have the same done to them (which sounds even more traumatizing).
-And then there is the possibility of there being other particle excelleraters as well that could’ve only been created because the kids (sort of) fixed the parallels, and these particle exelleraters can change things up
….Anywho, that is just my thoughts after watching the show recently (and by recently, I mean I finally just finished the last episode and this is the product of my thoughts afterward), because now I just absolutely love it! I mean there is so much they can do with this show an I honestly hope Disney invests in it! And to those who will actually read this: thanks for reading my comment you rare gem!❤️
