With the fourteenth day of the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard Trial approaching, Netizens have taken over Twitter to stand strong with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor. The ongoing case is a $50 million defamation trial filed by Depp against Heard over the op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018, where she described herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.” The trial has been going on for quite some time and Depp has already taken the stand once and given his testimony in the matter. Heard is due to take the stand on Wednesday.
The latest update from the case is the testimony given by Amber Heard’s psychologist, Dr. Hughes, who testified that Heard suffered post-traumatic stress disorder from the violence she suffered at the hands of Depp. Post this the WebMD profile of the doctor has been flooding with negative reviews. Twitter users have also taken over the social media platform to express how the doctor’s testimony has subjected abuse to the gender stereotype that women are the sole victims of it.
Roaring tweets have been flooding in, where one of the users wrote: “I’ve been abused. Most of the women I know have been as well. However, men are abused too. I’ve seen it. A true feminist doesn’t blame men for everything. #MenToo #MeToo #DeppvHeard”, in response to Hudges’ testimony. Another response to the latest hearing from a Twitter user was, “I am shaking…This is not objective. It is so unprofessional to make assumptions about Johnny’s behavior when she did not evaluate him! MenToo #JusticeForJohnnyDepp.” Let us see what the other users have to say below.
