You Are My Spring episode 5 recap

March 2003, Seoul. Two men, who look exactly the same (guessing they are twins), are tending to their wounds. One seems to know what he is doing while the other seems to be shaken up by something. The proficient one tells the other that a shadow shouldn’t covet the light and that he should remember what he did for him.

12 hours ago, we hear a commotion – the sound of breaking glass and such. Turns out, their father killed their mother and then slipped and hurt themselves when he tried to hurt one of them.

Back in the present in You Are My Spring episode 5, Ian Norman Chase goes to the building from where Chae Jun jumped off. He comes face to face with Young-do. The latter asks him whether he knows Choi Jeong-min, or Chae Jun, however, Chase refuses to answer him and leaves.

The next day in You Are My Spring episode 5, Young-do is seen waiting for Da-jeong. While walking to the bus station, Young-do apologises to her for not believing the doppelganger statement. However, Da-jeong says that she didn’t take what he had said to heart. He asks her to have ramyeon with him but she laughs and walks away, mentioning that that’s why people think he’s a flirt.

Later on, in You Are My Spring episode 5, Young-do goes to the police station to talk about the case and that’s when Chase calls in. The latter comes over and meets Young-do and they exchange pleasantries when Chase gets to know that Young-do is a consultant for the police.

As Chase talks to the police regarding what happened to Chae Jun, Young-do mulls over his interactions with Jun. He doesn’t seem to be buying Chase’s story, and later, it seems like neither is Detective Ko.

The next day, Chae Jun bumps into Da-jeong again at the hotel lobby. But this time, their meeting isn’t as difficult as last time. Later on, in You Are My Spring episode 5, presents are being handed out and Da-jeong’s mother sends Young-do a bag of squids. There are a few funny moments here with Young-do, whose awkward reactions just add a touch of fun to an already odd situation.

Meanwhile, a police officer is tailing Chase in You Are My Spring episode 5. The latter figures it out and follows the guy, who ends up stabbed in an alley. I have a feeling Chase was the one who committed the murders and made his twin take the fall, maybe because Chae Jun owed his brother the favour from before.

Anyway, Da-jeong catches Young-do trying on a cute helmet that he decides to gift to her mother, in return for the squids, in You Are My Spring episode 5. They engage in back and forth banter which is absolutely cute to watch. I like these moments, and if you like them too, then don’t worry, there’s plenty of that to go by in this episode. Especially when Young-do is absolutely oblivious to everything around him. Da-jeong also talks to her mother here and I liked the half and half scenes where each is mirroring the other’s actions.

As it starts to snow in You Are My Spring episode 5, Young-do races home to meet Da-jeong and the episode ends with them looking at each other.

Netflix's You Are My Spring Episode 5 Recap: Banter and Fluff 8

Okay so, You Are My Spring episode 5 is very much a fluff episode. Apart from the small stabbing, we get to know nothing about Chase or Chae Jun and neither does anyone do anything. The episode feels like an attempt to increase the series length. However, a fluff episode can be nice when Young-do and Da-jeong engage in banter.

You Are My Spring is streaming on Netflix.
