The Kissing Booth 2 premiered on Netflix on 24 July 2020, two years after the first instalment, which became one of Netflix’s most-watched titles of the summer. Based on the novel The Kissing Booth 2: Going the Distance by Beth Reekles, the film stars Joey King, Joel Courtney, Taylor Perez, Meganne Young, and Jacob Elordi.
Since the last movie The Kissing Booth, a lot of changes have taken place in Noah and Elle’s lives. Noah moved out, Elle and Lee reach their senior year and more.
The Senior Life and Love
The Kissing Booth, back in 2018 was a good movie. It was fun and made me say aww so many times and obviously being a Noah-Elle shipper, I was excited about the sequel. Elle, after the incidents of the first movie, is no longer an object for men to possess and protect – she can handle herself.
The question the movie carries with itself throughout is did Noah cheat on Elle? Can’t deny that it looked like he loved her with all his heart, but it also felt like Noah might be cheating considering his playboy persona depicted in the first movie.
It’s more about Elle’s growth as a person and as a lover in this part and how sometimes best friendships can stand in the way of true love like Lee and Rachel’s. While all the characters have their own thing to sort, 3,000 miles away from Noah, Elle is getting possessive and insecure.
Elle eventually teams up with Marco (Taylor Perez) to enter a dance game competition and win money to attend college. This, obviously, goes in the wrong direction towards the end as affection starts getting involved. While Elle believes Noah is cheating on her, Noah has his own insecurities to deal with. Additionally, Lee and Rachel’s relationship also goes through a rough patch.
While the whole turmoil of who loves who goes on in the background. Elle soon realises a fundamental truth and comes to the conclusion about whom she would love to kiss for the rest of her life.
With an aeroplane sequence in play, Noah and Elle solve a few misunderstandings. They talk about Chloe and Marco and that’s a sweet moment for the two. They kiss and makeup and it’s just beautiful. However, that’s not the case with Marco, who seems to be going down the road for heartbreak.
However, a troublesome question comes into the equation – now that colleges are up for grabs, Elle must make the tough decision as to which college she’d like to go to – Berkeley or Harvard.
The question is – what will Elle choose?
Will There Be A The Kissing Booth 3
According to the book the film is based on The Kissing Booth 2: Going the Distance, by Beth Reekles. She has not written a third book in the series, nor has she announced plans to do so.
Joey King in a recent interview with The Today Show said she was on board for a third film. “Me and the cast have been talking, and we want that so badly. We’re kind of relying on the fans to help us out.” “They loved the first one so much, they’re the reason that we got a sequel. So if they love this one and they make it known to the world and to Netflix, our fingers are crossed that Netflix will give us the third movie because that’s what we want, really badly,” she added.
So, the sequel is very much possible and dependent on how The Kissing Booth 2 performs!
