Mine episode 4 recap

Hi-soo has to bear the brunt of Kang Ja-kyeong’s violent outburst in the last episode. She goes off to meet the mother of her son’s bully who gives her a medical report and berates her in Mine episode 4. She mentions that it didn’t seem like Ja-kyeong would do this being a mere tutor – it felt like someone had done something to her own son and that’s why she lost her mind.

Later on, Hi-soo tells Ja-kyeong what Jin-won’s mother told her. When Ja-kyeong agrees to kneel and apologise, the former refuses and says that she cannot let someone who is working for her get humiliated like that.

Kang Ja-kyeong goes to meet Jin-won’s mother later on in Mine episode 4 and she apologises. However, when she asks Ja-kyeong to kneel so that she may slap her, the former brings out things from Jin-won’s mother’s past that can destroy her reputation. Well, while threatening her, Ja-kyeong lets it slip that Ha-joon is, in fact, her son. Although it was quite apparent, it’s still nice to get to know one thing.

On the other hand, Jung Seo-hyun is playing a dangerous game and the narrator says that she is controlling everyone’s lives without anyone knowing it. She tells head maid Joo that she will fire Kim Yu-yeon the next day and to keep it a secret. The next day, Mother asks Yu-yeon whether she slept in Soo-hyuk’s room. When she says that she has, Mother slaps her and Hi-soo has to come in and save the day. Yu-yeon tells Hi-soo later on as to why the room swapping happened, and although Hi-soo sympathises, she tells her that she might surely be fired.

Anyway, Soo-hyuk gets to know that Yu-yeon was fired by her grandmother. He further gets to know that she hit her as well. This sends him to try and fetch her from Mother Emma. However, when he gets there, Yu-yeon has already left. Mother Emma advises Soo-hyuk to leave Yu-yeon alone – it’s better for everyone involved.

In other news, Han Ji-yong tells Mother that has met Han Suk-chul and that they should prepare themselves because he doesn’t look like he’s going to make it. Mother asks him whether he knows anything about his father’s will. When he tells her that he doesn’t, she thanks him for keeping his promise. So there’s something shady going on here as well; more drama that we need to unfold!

Soo-hyuk goes up to his mother and declares that he will get Yu-yeon back. When she tells him that he can’t, she reminds him that even though she is his stepmother, she still has certain responsibilities as a mother. He asks her what would a mother do in this situation. She says that a mother would get him married to A-rim. She further questions him whether she wants to become like the men in the family – does he want a mistress too? He looks distraught, but he tells her that she will get Yu-yeon back.

We later see him walking around, presumably after Seong-tae gave him Yu-yeon’s address. Once there, he speaks to her brother, who tells him that Yu-yeon is working for a good company in the US and is earning a lot of money to help them. That is also the reason why she can’t come home. Soo-hyuk feels guilty and that is evident from his face.

Additionally, one of the maids tells Jung Seo-hyun about Seong-tae seeing Fang Ja-kyeong and Han Ji-yong together the other night. Seo-hyun is a little concerned and mentions that Ja-kyeong seems suspicious. She then asks the maid to get the Rubato maids without Hi-soo’s knowledge.

The next day in Mine episode 4, Jin-hee is distraught after learning that she has to resign as the CEO of the bakery. She barges into Hi-soo’s house and tries to intimidate her saying that they are all jealous of her. Unfortunately for her though, Hi-soo has had enough of her crap and proceeds to show her her place.

Hi-soo gets a call from her lawyer who tells her that there’s nothing suspicious about Kang Ja-kyeong. She has a deep sense of responsibility and has been working as a tutor and guardian for 10 years. This puts Hi-soo at ease, only for her to realise that her driver had not given Ja-kyeong Jin-won’s mother’s address. This back and forth between these two characters are one of the most interesting things about the series and Mine episode 4 totally nails it with some ground-breaking revelations.

At the exhibit, tensions are rife as everyone is at the same place and too many things can go wrong. Kang Ja-kyeong is now freely holding Han Ji-yong’s hands. Surprisingly, he doesn’t say anything to her. Cut to later and we see the two making out at his wife’s exhibition. It’s disgraceful and Hi-soo is almost about to find out when Mother Emma gets a hold of her.

A painting at the exhibition touches the hearts of many, especially Jung Seo-hyun and Hi-soo. The latter, thus, tells Soo-hyuk where Yu-yeon is and asks him to follow his heart. Soo-hyuk goes to meet Yu-yeon at the fast food place where she works and although she is cold to him at first, she warms up to him when she sees that he has fallen asleep at his seat. He asks her to come back after they share their feelings and she agrees. It’s one of those rare moments in Mine episode 4 that truly touches your heart.

Well, unable to take Kang Ja-kyeong’s constant boundary violations, Hi-soo fires her. This results in Han Ji-yong to become too upset for Hi-soo’s liking. On the other hand, Ja-kyeong does not take the news well but doesn’t cause a scene either. Jung Seo-hyun asks Mother who Kang Ja-kyeong really is, while Hi-soo also puts the pieces together. Mine episode 4 ends with Hi-soo asking Ja-kyeong to not leave and they stare each other down.
