Ah man, it’s that episode where we have to watch K go after Santa! I am really attached to his character. I feel like he’s such a pure person and just so good. Anyway, at first though, in Inspector Koo episode 4, K checks out the new headquarters of the task force. Meanwhile, Santa, who was already on his way back home, realizes something and decides to go back to the office alone.

K puts in recording equipment in their office and that’s exactly when Santa comes in. he starts watering the plants while K hides from him. He throws out the trash and that is where K was hiding, who starts following Santa around in the empty parking lot. However, she doesn’t do anything to him (thank god!). But he realizes that this person is an imposter because of the perfume K was wearing.

Now Santa follows K outside, in Inspector Koo episode 4. He’s relentless and both start to run as fast as they can. Apparently, the chase happens over a few hours since K is able to ditch Santa just as the sun is about to come out. The internet, meanwhile, is buzzing with K’s video. The team is watching the videos and also going through the episode from where the puppets in K’s video were taken.

Kyung-yi deciphers that the messaging of the episode matches the real-life incidents exactly. But since the video was uploaded hurriedly, it must be a video that the murderer grew up watching, since it’s not a cartoon that is readily available there. That is when Santa comes in and lets everyone know that someone broke in and he’s certain that it was K.

Unfortunately, no one believes him at first… until he finds the transmitter. They get rid of it, essentially cutting off what she was listening to. Anyway, they discuss what to do next and Santa says that he’s certain that it was a girl. On the other hand, Jeong-yeon gets to know that someone used her card to get into NT Life Insurance. She is immediately concerned that it might have been K.

Later, Kyung-yi goes to meet K at her play rehearsal. The former realizes that her leg is also hurt. Although K tries to play it off by saying that her leg is asleep, Kyung-yi does not believe her. She asks her about her life in Seattle, whether she watched the cartoon in the news and where K was last night. After putting it off for a while, K answers all of Kyung-yi’s questions in Inspector Koo episode 4 and immediately adds that Seong-u was a great listener.

That night, Kyung-yi gets a call from Jae-young who tells her that the person had called her and asked for her help and she cannot turn them down since they can hurt her daughter. Thus, she needs her help. She discusses it with the team and turns suspicious of them. She asks them to turn in their phones, but when it comes to Je-hui, she refuses to give in to her demands. She says that she hasn’t changed even a bit and is still thinking of only herself. She doesn’t care if anyone ends up dead, as long as she gets a lead on K.

This takes Kyung-yi back to the past in Inspector Koo episode 4 and we see her talking to Seong-u, whether he had done anything to the girl who accused him of misconduct. The next scene is of Kyung-yi and Je-hui at Seong-u’s funeral. In the present, Je-hui says that Kyung-yi hasn’t changed one bit, although she has. She still suspects others for no reason.

Kyung-yi concludes that she knows that she might have killed her husband. However, she asks, what if he didn’t kill himself because she looked at him with contempt? What if he killed himself because he didn’t want the truth to come out? She says that if she had to relive the day, she would still suspect him since she has no choice.

Kyung-yi then asks Je-hui in Inspector Koo episode 4 how close she was to her husband… who is Na Na’s father? Je-hui, unable to say anything else, says that when she needs someone by her side, she won’t have her there. Je-hui then leaves, leaving the room silent and awkward.

In a flashback in Inspector Koo episode 4, we see Je-hui telling Kyung-yi that someone saw Seong-u with the student on the day of the incident. Thus, he is probably a suspect. With this information, Kyung-yi goes to question Seong-u.

Meanwhile, Je-hui is shocked to find her sick daughter in a private room in the hospital with Yong Sook, who has arranged for it. She subtly threatens her to find a lead since she doesn’t like to go without information for too long. Je-hui calls Kyung-yi that night and asks her plan. The latter says that everything is set and that no one will die.

The next day, the two women set Jae-young up with transmitters and set her off on her mission to meet K. It’s a thrilling and dangerous journey where Jae-yeong goes on a goose chase followed by the four from the team. While Santa gets on a Ferris wheel to follow the old lady, Kyung-yi follows Jae-young. It turns out that Jae-young wasn’t the target.

Je-hui and Gyeong-su are stuck inside their out, with helium filling it up, while Santa is stuck on the Ferris wheel. Finally, Kyung-yi realizes that K wanted to hurt those around her so that they stop following her. Je-hui and Kyung-yi have been taken hostage and Kyung-yi and Santa rush off to find them. Meanwhile, K is taken to the police station after the police find a joint on her. Turns out, that’s Gun-wook’s doing.

K apparently dropped Je-hui and Gyeong-su in the middle of the ocean in a freight container… or so they think at first. However, before Je-hui is able to tell Kyung-yi that they aren’t in the middle of the ocean, the connection is lost.

Final Thoughts: Inspector Koo episode 4

Inspector Koo episode 4 wastes no time to give us any unnecessary moments. Every moment is important and comes into play sooner or later. The episode is one of the best, honestly, and makes for a thrilling ride throughout its runtime. Kim Hye-jun, who plays K, is absolutely amazing and without her, this series wouldn’t be quite as thrilling as it is right now.

Inspector Koo is streaming on Netflix.
