Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 8 recap:

Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 8 starts off with Seong-hyeon asking Du-sik whether Hye-jin is dating anyone. However, Du-sik tells him to talk to Hye-jin directly and looks visibly irritated and upset. His jealousy seems to be off the roof! (yet he won’t talk to Hye-jin about his feelings himself.)

Meanwhile, all the kids seem to have gathered at Hye-jin’s house. Ju-ri is watching JUNE on Hye-jin’s big TV while Bo-ra and I-jun are there to visit the hedgehog. Mi-seon comes home and tells her what everyone at the café was saying, well, gossiping. According to their neighbours, Hye-jin slept with Du-sik and is now two-timing with Seong-hyeon. Oh, and the men can do better than her. Although she isn’t too taken but the rumour, the last comment annoys her.

Later, Du-sik is giving Seong-hyeon a rundown on how to surf in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 8. Seong-hyeon trying is surf is the cutest thing ever, seriously! As they walk back home, Seong-hyeon asks Du-sik to have dinner with him, but Du-sik doesn’t want to have what he suggested. However, they meet Hye-jin and Mi-seon on the way who, too, want his choice of dish. As Mi-seon dips out, Du-sik agrees to go with them.

At the restaurant in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 8, Seong-hyeon pulls out a chair for Hye-jin beside him, but she sits beside Du-sik absentmindedly. Seong-hyeon is taken aback a little bit, much to Du-sik’s delight. Du-sik tells Seong-hyeon that he and Hye-jin will share a menu while he can have his own. Seong-hyeon is confused as to what is going on here and looks perplexed. It is so funny to look at the two men trying to win Hye-jin’s attention!

As they discuss their college life, we see a flashback of when Seong-hyeon and Hye-jin met in class and how he had swapped their lunches. As they are talking, Du-sik pours water on him and then insists on going Dutch. His weird behaviour confuses the other two, but then chalk it up to Du-sik being Du-sik.

Later in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 8, Nam-suk goes to get her teeth filled from Hye-jin but insists on not getting the filling from her because it’s costly. So, she has a giant hole in her tooth with exposed nerves which is not filled. I can’t imagine the pain that is going to cause, honestly! Her character is just so annoying.

Anyway, Du-sik seems to be annoyed that Seong-hyeon is helping everyone out in the town, and taking over his work. However, he’s happy when he gets to help Gam-ri. Later, when he’s helping out at the general store, Hye-jin stops by and he’s enamoured by her beauty and keeps looking at her. It’s funny and sweet since he surprises himself with his feelings for her.

That night, Cho-hui, severely drunk, is almost abducted by a predator who turns out to be stealing women’s clothes throughout the town. Although Cho-hui is fine, everyone is scared that something like this is happening in their rather safe town.

Anyway, as Hye-jin is treating one of her patients, she gets to know that Nam-suk is telling everyone to get the dental fillings from her friend at a reduced price after getting cavities treated by Hye-jin. The latter is annoyed and when she confronts her, Nam-suk insults her saying that dentists are frauds. Du-sik joins the conversation and says that Nam-suk crossed the line, however, she cries and runs away in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 8.

Later that day, Du-sik and Eun-cheol go out for rounds around the town to keep everyone safe while Hye-jin and Mi-seon discuss Nam-suk and dating. Just then, Seong-hyeon runs over to Hye-jin to give her some stuff to protect herself. It’s a little awkward but done in good faith. He then walks her home.

That night, Du-sik’s night walk with Eun-cheol makes him come across Hye-jin and Seong-hyeon walking together. He gives her a little gift and walks off in the rain, looking a little sad. Hye-jin looks after him, concerned as well.

However, when Hye-jin tries to eat it, she is unable to find a way to do so and is shocked at how bitter it is when brewed. She calls Du-sik to thank him, but he doesn’t pick up. We hear him coughing. The next day it is clear that he’s sick but he brushes everyone off.

As Du-sik and Seong-hyeon walk down the road, Nam-suk gets embroiled in a phishing scam that Hye-jin catches. As the thief runs with her money, Hye-jin gives chase, later joined by the two guys in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 8. Du-sik catches him and he’s taken away. However, even after doing so much good, he looks a bit sad. Honestly, it just makes the entire mood of the series down. It’s clear how much Du-sik means to the series.

Anyway, Hye-jin makes a house call to Du-sik to take care of him. As she takes care of him in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 8, he is again enamoured by her. Anyway, she then tries to make something for him and refuses to leave him alone. It’s so cute. Although Hye-jin has no idea how to cook she tries, but the variety of sounds from the kitchen is enough to make Du-sik worry for his kitchen.

By the time she comes back with the porridge in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 8, Du-sik has fallen asleep. That’s when she remembers Mi-seon asking her whether Du-sik is a good kisser. She closes in on him as if to kiss him, but moves away wondering what’s wrong with her at the last minute. Walking down the road, she sees tangerines and gets an idea.

When Du-sik gets up, she sees the porridge and a note telling him to eat it all.  He tastes it wonders how porridge can taste this bad. But he still eats it all, smiling to himself. However, the kitchen is another warzone altogether! Although the porridge is pretty bad, he can’t throw any of it away. Poor man’s really head over heels for Hye-jin! Feeling better, later on, he finds the tangerines on his porch and eats them and smiles.

As Hye-jin walks down the road to grab a coffee, Hwa-jeong meets her and they talk about Nam-suk. The backstory is quite sad, but does that forgive the things that they spew? It does explain it, sure, but doesn’t make it right. However, Hye-jin finds it in her heart to forgive her and they both make up.

As the shooting starts in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 8, everyone seems to be excited and having tons of fun. Gam-ri’s house is filled with people from the town, but Du-sik’s eyes are only for one person. Hye-jin, however, is hard at work. She’s late to go back home and on her way, she comes across the predator. Hye-jin is scared and runs, with the guy in tow. Just when she thought she was going to be caught, Du-sik finds her.

Crying, she runs into his arms. Although Du-sik is a bit confused at first, he hugs her back understanding that something is going on here. Looking back, we see that Du-sik was awake when Hye-jin had gone in to kiss a seemingly sleeping Du-sik.

Netflix’s Hometown Cha Cha Cha Episode 8 Recap: An Almost Kiss 8

I am pretty sure Hometown Cha Cha Cha is going to end up like Nevertheless and Seong-hyeon isn’t going to come close to winning Hye-jin’s trust. However, it’s fun to see him try anyway. Either way, I want Du-sik and Hye-jin together, I mean, how can you not? The next episode promises Hye-jin’s father to play the villain, at least for some time, and Du-sik announcing that he’s Hye-jin’s boyfriend!
