Oh man, it’s so difficult to watch Du-sik getting accused of causing someone misfortune. After the outburst in the last episode, Du-sik is left shell-shocked but Hye-jin tells him that there must’ve been a misunderstanding. However, he disagrees and tells her that he has, in fact, done that to Do-ha’s father and killed the man in the photo she had previously seen. Hye-jin is shocked and confused in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 15.

There’s a general air of heartbreak all around, understandably, with Hye-jin in disbelief and Du-sik absolutely heartbroken. Mi-seon tries to comfort Hye-jin, who breaks down in front of her friend.

It’s been a few days after the incident in Gongjin and everyone is working as per usual. However, there’s a general air of sadness all around. No one has heard from him as of yet and the entire neighbourhood has started to get worried.

We get to know what happened straight from Do-ha, who tells Seong-hyeon what happened to his father: his father was the security guard at YK Asset Management and Du-sik was a fund manager. Du-sik asked him to invest in a fund and he gave up his all behind the investment. Then the Benjamin Holdings incident occurred, after which stocks plummeted worldwide. Do-ha’s father tried to commit suicide after that which resulted in his predicament and Do-ha’s anger.

He further explains that Du-sik’s friend died in a car accident after the incident. Meanwhile, Mi-seon brings news to Hye-jin about Du-sik and Jeong-u. Seong-hyeon, too, remembers the time when Seon-a’s husband, i.e., Jeong-u died. It’s an all-around horrible revelation for all of the characters and it seems like it’s not something that anyone can come back from.

Meanwhile, Gam-ri tries to get in touch with Du-sik and realizes that the food she has left at his doorstep previously has been left untouched. Hye-jin, too, is confused about moving to Seoul. Right then, she gets a visit from Gam-ri. The latter discusses her concerns for Du-sik safety with Hye-jin in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 15, but Hye-jin still looks a bit dejected.

That night, Hye-jin straight-up goes to Du-sik’s place to feed him. Du-sik opens up to her about his past in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 15. We get to know what happened to Jeong-u. The latter and he were roommates in college and he was Du-sik’s closest person – almost like an older brother.

Anyway, he convinced Du-sik to join YK Assets even though it had nothing to do with his major. That is where he got to know Do-ha’s father and they too quickly became close. His father wanted to invest in the funds that Du-sik was handling since it was possible to get a ton of returns through them. However, the risks, too, were bigger. Although Du-sik dissuaded him at first, he was adamant and convinced Du-sik to help him out.

Of course, the stock market plummeted after that and Du-sik got to know that he invested in a fund that he had not recommended. He was going to lose a lot of money but all of that could’ve been recovered had he not invested his savings and taken out a loan. Du-sik is shocked at each revelation but asks him to wait regardless.

He hears the news of the attempted suicide later and is heartbroken. As he tries to drive away, Jeong-u dissuades him and tells him that he will drive him instead. Du-sik agrees to this. During this drive, the two get into an accident which results in Jeong-u’s death.

Hye-jin comforts a spiralling Du-sik in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 15 and he cries into her arms. The next day, on his way back home, Seong-hyeon tells Do-ha how he is connected to everything and informs him that he was on his way to meet his father when the accident happened that killed Jeong-u. He says that it was a stroke of bad luck for everyone involved and I must agree.

At Gongjin in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 15, Seong-hyeon asks Do-ha to go meet Du-sik and get closure. He does so and asks Du-sik whether he was the one who took care of all of their monetary troubles. In a flashback, we see Du-sik give up his everything to take care of Do-ha’s family. In the present, Do-ha asks him whether he thought that his giving them money would solve everything or if he pitied them.

Du-sik tells him that it’s not that. His father had talked about his family the last time that they had talked, and he wanted to keep his word. Do-ha tells him that he knows Du-sik is not to blame and he just needed someone to blame. He breaks down while asking him why he didn’t tell him that everything will be ok one more time and Du-sik can do nothing but apologise.

The next day in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 15, Du-sik, wearing Jeong-u’s suit comes face to face with Seon-a. The latter introduces her son to Du-sik, who does not remember him. Du-sik talks to him and starts crying while embracing him. It seems like Seon-a has also forgiven her old friend asks him to forgive himself.

Later that day in Hometown Cha Cha Cha episode 15, Hye-jin and Du-sik discuss the day. She asks him to keep smiling and not to think too much. Du-sik confesses that after Jeong-u died, he was going to kill himself and was almost going to jump into the river. However, in the middle of it, he found out a text from Gam-ri asking him to meet her and that’s what saved his life. Now we know why this place and these people are so important to Du-sik.

That night, after having a heartfelt conversation with her best friends and discussing how fulfilling her life has been, Gam-ri dies a peaceful death.

In a later scene, we watch in a flashback that Hye-jin had, in fact, seen Du-sik sitting on the bridge and reported it to the police which resulted in an ambulance picking him up.

Also:

  • Hwa-jeong and Yeong-guk’s relationship has significantly improved and they let I-jun know the truth.
  • Cho-hui tells Hwa-jeong that she had a crush on her and not Yeong-guk. The former lets her know that she had always known.

  1. im pissed that gam ri had to die. for what??? just let her live on to watch ds and hj get married and have babies. it was such an unnecessary death.

    • yes! I agree I wanted her to live and watch the two get married. However, I think they did it to push the emotional quotient more and they were working up to it, considering how much they showcased her having an effect on Du-sik’s life. It was heartbreaking, but probably necessary. But that’s just my personal opinion. It was heartbreaking to watch her go, she was such a good character! 🙁

  2. the most piece of shit story that i had ever heard for a long time since i had watch start up. Once again i’m so pissed that they are blaming it again on du sik for their own fucking stupidity. its not even his fault in the first place, first of all he warned the father to know the risk and dont just go investing without knowing the stakes but he still did, what a stupid piece of dumb shit are you? even he admitted that what he did is dumb, that’s why tried committed suicide, why? because he blamed him self for being stupid dumb shit he is. And the family still had the audacity to blame it on du sik? are fucking right on your heads??? du sik even sold everything he owned because of what that stupid dumb shit father did and still that mother bitch still had the audacity to call him disguisting, for what, for helping your family to recover from the stupid dumb shit that your husband did?? and the son punched him? you know if the father is not so fucking stupid in the first place non of the tragedy would happen in the first place. they did this once in start up series, putting the blame on the mc when it does not even makes sense?

    • I totally understand and support your anger. Honestly, this was me as I watched the episode. But in the last episode, they did mention that Do-ha just needed someone to blame and that he knows that it wasn’t his fault. It was all-out bad luck for everyone. I think they did a good job of showcasing how blame falls on those who don’t deserve it in situations such as this. However, it isn’t Du-sik’s fault. The show also did a good job showcasing Du-sik’s guilt and how he came to terms with it.

But I do agree, it was all out Do-ha’s father’s fault and Du-sik did not deserve what he got.
