Taking on the classic Australian TV series that had its run from 1994 to 1999 as its source material, Heartbreak high is receiving a reboot and it will be released on Netflix this September. The show will be bending the pre-existing storyline to fit in all the modern and contemporary matters of inclusivity.
With executive producers Carly Heaton and Chris Oliver Taylor, and Hannah Carroll Chapman at the helm of its creation, the show is likely to have eight episodes for the first season. And most importantly, the cast of the upcoming series seems to fit the descriptions provided by Netflix, as can be seen in the trailer.

Heartbreak High Plot/Synopsis
The official Netflix synopsis reads:
AN INCENDIARY MURAL EXPOSES EVERYONE’S SECRET HOOK-UPS AT HARTLEY HIGH. ITS AUTHOR, AMERIE, HAS TO GRAPPLE WITH THE MESSY FALLOUTS AS A TOTAL OUTCAST.
With the upcoming reboot, Netflix will present a fresh take on the lives of the seniors at Hartley High. Now that Amerie has been pushed to the margins after the whole Hartley High mural debacle, her only shoulder to cry on is that of her two new friends – Darren and Quinni, her fellow outcast peers.
The coming of age saga will once again take us on the rollercoaster that is high school, a place where teens experience their first set of ‘firsts’. Love, friendship, sex, and heartbreak all go hand in hand and make up the life of a teenager during this phase of their life. Nothing seems to be of paramount importance other than this.

The Heartbreak High trailer brings us to the first heartbreak experienced by Amerie that happens when her best friend Harper dumps her and along with their “perfect friendship”, her world starts falling apart too. However, the whole scenario in the school reflects her own predicament or is maybe even worse for some. Many relationships are outed without due notice, all because of her detailed relationship chart.
That’s when her new ‘reject’ friends encourage her to “just strut out there and own (her) sh*t”. And so she does. Cue a colorful montage of teenagers going through a rush and having the time of their lives.
With comic reliefs here and there, the trailer promises you a long exciting ride once the show comes around. Check out Amerie and her friends’ antics this September on Netflix.
