Murder in the Hills Trailer: Anjan Dutta’s Hoichoi Series Looks Promising!

For those of you Bengalis out there who are desperate for a weekend at Darjeeling, but the pandemic has put a damper on your plans – boy, do we have a murder mystery for you!

The Murder in the Hills trailer just dropped on Hoichoi’s YouTube channel and it proves to be all kinds of twisty and nerve-wracking. The opening statement of the trailer says, “এই পাহাড়ের আনাচে কানাচে লুকিয়ে আছে অসংখ্য রহস্য…” which translates to, “A multitude of secrets are hidden in every nook and cranny of these mountains.” That proves to be quite true as Murder in the Hills trailer comes to an end.

We meet all of our players in the game – a game started by Anjan Dutta, it seems. He has invited a whole host of interesting characters (and big names!) to play a murderous game. However, what seemingly starts off as innocent fun, turns into a night of deadly horror which, in turn, becomes a fight for the truth and survival.

The Murder in the Hills trailer showcases Darjeeling beautifully, a place close to our hearts. However, when we think of the hills, it is usually met with happiness and enjoyment. That will prove to not be the case here.

With an impressive star cast including Rajdeep Gupta, Arjun Chakrabarty, Sandipta Sen, Suprobhat Das, Anindita Bose, Sourav Chakraborty, and Rajat Ganguly, and directed by Anjan Dutt (who has also written the story), Murder in the Hills is a murder mystery series that promises to give you goosebumps.

Talking about Murder in the Hills, Anjan Dutta said to The Telegraph, “Murder in The Hills is an extremely dark story filled with very complex characters, who are all contemporary and young. It’s violent, reeking in secrets, lies and scandals. The hills become very murky… where blood is shed and the violence of the past catch up with the present.”

“The most important aspect was to achieve a scale I have rarely achieved before. In this global scenario it’s very important to try to match our OTT work with the rest of the world. Being in a place where I grew up, it became mandatory to shoot in areas where tourists would rarely go; to achieve a visual scale in that crowded underbelly.”

Arjun Chakrabarty is an investigative journalist, as the Murder in the Hills trailer showcases, who will go above and beyond to prove his hunch – that the murder of a famous Bengali film star isn’t a coincidence or accident; it was planned.

The Murder in the Hills trailer reminds us of Chehre and Knives Out. The latter is a fantastic movie, and hopefully, the Hoichoi-exclusive series, too, will keep us hooked till the end.
