Roland Emmerich, most popularly known for directing Action and Disaster movies like White House Down, The Patriot, Universal Soldier, Godzilla and many more has recently stated that superhero and ‘Star Wars’ films are ruining the industry. He is currently enjoying the buzz around his multi starrer sci-fi disaster movie Moonfall. He is credited as the director, producer and co-writer of the film. The film has a huge star cast including popular names from the industry.
The story of Moonfall revolves around NASA executive Jocinda Fowler who teams up with a conspiracy theorist to save humanity from annihilation when a mysterious force knocks the moon from its orbit and sends it toward a collision course with Earth. It is one of the most expensive independently produced films of all time. It was released on February 4, 2022, in The US.
He is among the many actors and directors that have lambasted the state of the movie business because these types of movies exist, reports Deadline. While talking about his newest disaster film, Roland Emmerich mentions: “Because naturally, Marvel and DC Comics and Star Wars have pretty much taken over. “It’s ruining our industry a little bit because nobody does anything original anymore.”
Roland Emmerich claims to be all about originality and believes that Christopher Nolan is making bold choices when it comes to filmmaking, reports Deadline. “You should make bold new movies, you know? And I think, actually, Christopher Nolan is the master of that. He is someone who can make movies about whatever he wants,” he said.
