Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area is the Korean rendition of the Spanish series La Casa De Papel or popularly known as Money Heist on Netflix. The original crime thriller was created by Alex Pina, has five seasons and is centred on a series of heists conducted by an unusual group of robbers. Alex Pina is also an executive producer in the Korean version, which is set against the backdrop of the reunification of North and South Korea.
The series is directed by Kim Hong-sun and written by Ryu Yong-jae, Kim Hwan-chae and Choe Sung-jun. The headliner of the show, Park Hae-soo who gained global fame from the series Squid Games will be playing one of the main roles in the series. As the original series broke many records on Netflix, the expectations are equally high for the Korean version as well.
Money Heist Korea Cast
The cast features Yoo Ji-tae as Professor, Park Hae-soo as Berlin, Jun Jong-seo as Tokyo, Lee Won-jong as Moscow, Kim Ji-hun as Denver, Jang Yoon-ju as Nairobi, Lee Hyun-woo as Rio, Kim Ji-hoon as Helsinki and Lee Kyu-ho as Oslo. It will also include Kim Yun-jin as Seon Woo-jin, a crisis negotiation team leader belonging to the National Police Agency and Kim Sung-oh as Captain Cha Moo-hyuk, a former special agent dispatched to handle the hostage crisis.

Money Heist Korea Plot/Synopsis
The official Netflix synopsis of the series describes the plot as – Thieves overtake the mint of a unified Korea. With hostages trapped inside, the police must stop them — as well as the shadowy mastermind behind it all. In the trailer, we can see the professor (played by Yoo Ji-tae) bringing together the members and planning to attack the bank to bring 4 trillion won and disappear.
They feel betrayed by the promise of progress and stuck in a newly unified Korea where the rich just keep getting richer, so the group of meticulous criminals decides to take matters into their own hands. Will this heist tear the nation into two parts again or unite them together against the unfair gap between the rich and the poor.
