Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 7 Review- Anything For A Friend

One of my favourite things about the show is Mob and Ritsu’s relationship. As someone who knows a lot about living with a sibling, which I don’t doubt that most of you also know a thing or two about, theirs is one of the most refreshing representations of the kind I’ve seen. I love that the show didn’t go in the usual direction that stories go with brothers, making them hate each other and learn to deal with it, getting close in the end. Instead, Mob always loved his younger brother and appreciated the fact that he wasn’t socially awkward and friendless like Mob was.

However, Ritsu maintained some hatred towards Mob for his psychic capabilities and how Mob always seemed very nonchalant about them, despite being better than his elder brother at almost everything else. This issue was resolved in a fantastic manner at the end of season 1, and they’ve had a great relationship ever since. Shigeo never stopped loving his brother, and Ritsu came to love and respect his brother’s powers and personality. Now, anytime these two interact on screen is a lovely moment and a sign of how far these boys have come.

The fact that we had enough time to talk about Mob and Ritsu in this Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 7 review should tell you a little about how seemingly uneventful this episode was, but that’s not a bad aspect of it. Mob Psycho 100 is a show that shines in both of its major genres- shounen battle and slice of life. The combination of those two means that you get episodes like this one from time to time, which act as a bridge between the two genres. There were some lovely character moments in here, alongside the psychic powers that everyone loves.

Mob being a great human being was a running theme, as he showcased how good of a friend he was to Tome by agreeing to a harebrained scheme by some of his classmates to find a real telepath, and the various side characters that got involved in this scheme were all great. There was Tome’s club, Mob and Shegeo, the different-shaped twins, and of course, the #2 Tumblr Sexyman himself. There was a great story told involving telepathy, friendship, and not feeling like you belong in this world. It was fun, and it was classic Mob Psycho.

The fun is not even over yet, as this was only part one of the “summoning a UFO through telepathy” saga. There is a lot still left to do, and as long as the show doesn’t go too far in what should ideally be a silly little storyline, it should be a great time. This should be a fitting finale to the occult club part of the show and a feel-good story about friends helping each other out of ruts. Mob is growing up to be a great guy, and he’s bringing everyone alongside him.
Verdict
Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 7 was a sweet outing that focused on character development and the slice-of-life elements of the show.
