Mo Plot/Synopsis
The official Netflix synopsis of the series reads, “In Texas, Mo straddles the line between two cultures, three languages and a pending asylum request while hustling to support his Palestinian family.” The lead of the series Amer Najjar straddles the line between two cultures, three languages and a ton of bullshit as a Palestinian refugee constantly living one step away from asylum on the path to U.S. citizenship.
His family which includes his resilient and spiritual mother, sister and older brother, flee to Houston, Texas and start a new life. Laughing the pain away, he learns to adapt to his new world though, getting ahead in life comes with several setbacks. In the show, he gets laid off from his under-the-table job at a cell phone store.
And due to his immigration status, he can’t legally work thus, ends up selling hot merchandise from the trunk of his car and even deejaying at a strip joint.
