Mismatched is a romantic-drama web series directed by Akarsh Khurana and Nipun Dharmadhikari, written by Gazal Dhaliwal and is based on Sandhya Menon’s When Dimple Met Rishi. The series stars Prajakta Koli, Rohit Saraf, Rannvijay Singha and Vidya Malavade and Mismatched season 1 has 6 episodes, each with a runtime of around 30 minutes.
Mismatched had me feeling several different feelings, most of which were not pleasurable. Although I won’t get too deep into the review side of things in this article, the series feels like looking at the life of bullies and the series trying to make us sympathise with them.
However, it is definitely cute in some parts, especially the pairing of leads Prajakta Koli and Rohit Saraf; the storyline is a watered-down version of different socially important topics that only focus on the romance between Dimple and Rishi, that too, in a rather annoying way.
That being said, Mismatched season 2 is due to come out on October 14, 2022. Thus, if you need a refresher on the important points of the first season, we got you covered.
Mismatched Season 1 Recap
Dimple and Rishi are two from two different worlds – Dimple is the smart and unsocial coder who really wants to make it big with her passion. Meanwhile, Rishi is out to find ‘the one’ for himself, believing himself to be an old soul who fits into the world of old-world romance. When they meet, however, things don’t turn out too good for them.
As college starts and Rishi and Dimple get to know each other and others around them, they slowly start to get the hang of their new lives and find the things that pull them towards their goals and each other.
Dimple really wants to win The League of Legends Championship being held in their college, a coding championship where she still faces competition from fellow classmate Anmol. As her bonds grow with Rishi, she also shares her hopes, dreams and secrets with him – eventually telling him about an app idea and going on a date with him.

Unfortunately for her, her dream comes crashing down when her secret code gets leaked. She accuses Rishi of sabotaging her since he is the only person who knows about the code. On the other hand, Rishi, too, shares the secret of his best friend Namrata’s sexual orientation with Dimple, who promptly lets the truth slip resulting in a terrible fight at the end of which Dimple kisses another classmate, Harsh.
Namrata, meanwhile, is heartbroken at the social ostracization and now rejected by her crush, and Dimple’s roommate Celina breaks her friendship with Rishi. Rishi, too, leaves college after the crushing deception and misunderstanding.
On the other hand, Zeenath and Siddhart’s relationship seems to be going somewhere, and although the youngsters all end up fighting tooth and nail, they remain the only source of light in these rather dark times.
