Met Gala 2021 Red Carpet Looks: Who Did Timothée Chalamet, Rihanna, Emily Blunt Wear?

After the sad news of last year’s Met Gala being cancelled due to the pandemic, this year is a delightful experience to see all our favourite celebrities walking down the Met Gala 2021 Red Carpet. Like always, this year’s event is also based on a theme- “American Independence” or “In America” and, everyone seems to have understood the assignment. Let us have a look at the best dressed at this year’s Met and the house of design behind the creative outfits.

Take a look at some amazing Met Gala 2021 Red Carpet Looks:

Timothée Chalamet

This year marked the debut of Dune actor Timothée Chalamet at the Met Gala. The actor is seen wearing a white suit designed by Haider Ackermann. Adding depth to his look based on the theme, paired it up with classic white Chuck Taylor high-tops. The actor is to co-host this year’s event alongside Billie Eilish, Naomi Osaka and Amanda Gorman.

Chalamet wore a T-shirt underneath his custom suit whereas his trousers served a tribute to the design and cut of sweatpants.

Billie Eilish

Along with Chalamet, this year also saw singer Billie Eilish arrive on the red carpet at Met Gala for the first time. She too is co-hosting the event!

The celebrity shed off her grunge skin at home and became the bell of the ball as she walked the event in a peach Oscar de la Renta corset ball gown with off-the-shoulder detailed tulle and a long, flowing train behind her. She authenticated this old Hollywood- look with a blonde lob.

Her enchanting look was almost reminiscent of seeing Marylin Monroe on carpet but, the real inspiration behind the look Billie says was being a “Holiday Barbie”.

Emily Blunt

Emily Blunt walked at the Met Gala 2021 red carpet with the energy of being truly “In America”. The celeb is a veteran at the Met Gala and she marked her return in a custom made Miu Miu frock that was adorned with sparkles covering her entire sheer skirt and bodice. The extra drama was in position with a star-spangled headpiece, white cape and diamond jewellery.

The inspiration behind the look definitely came from Hedy Lamarr’s classic fashion film, Ziegfeld Girl of the 1940s.

Lil Nas X

Another debutante at this year’s Met was an American rapper and pop culture sensation Lil Nas X. He made a stellar first impression with his ensemble custom-designed by Donatella Versace.

Like, Lady Gaga’s outfit reveal session last time, it was Lil who took the lead this year. The first outfit was an ornate cape covered with intricate gold beading and a cape that was long and flowing feeding all our royal bones. He took off the cape-outfit to flaunt a second suit of armour that was golden.

The final outfit was when Lil shed off his armour to walk the red carpet in a bodycon designed bodysuit covered in crystals and Versace’s signature house print.

Rihanna

RiRi was dramatic and as loud as a queen at the Met Gala 2021 red carpet. She was adorned in a black ruffle Balenciaga dress with a matching beanie and Bulgari diamonds worth over 267 carats. She walked in with her boyfriend ASAP Rocky who was dressed in a starkly contrasting colourful quilt by Eli Russell Linnetz.
