In MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 46, the contestants find miniature-sized ingredients under the lid of their mystery boxes. The mystery box ingredients include school prawns, baby cauliflower, quail, micro basil, chardonnay, baby mandarins, fresh garlic, Oreos, tiny tomatoes and one pocket-sized plate.
The contestants have to use at least one ingredient from the box and feature them in their respective dishes. The dish should fit in the tiny plate provided in the mystery box and, all of it needs to happen within 60 minutes. A small yet mighty challenge! The cooks whose dishes land in the bottom three in the challenge will head to the upcoming pressure test, from where one will face elimination.
As the cooks start preparing their dishes, it gets harder with time. For Keyma, her dish needs to be redone at a point and Daniel gets stuck up by not knowing what kinda sauce he is going to serve. However, with much hustle, everyone is ready to get their dishes on the tiny plate in time.

After Melissa, who is back in the kitchen, gives out the call for the final 30 seconds it all ends rather swiftly and the tasting starts. Julie Goodwin’s dish is the first one up and she serves the judges Quail a l’Mandarin. The golden immunity pin owner gets praises for her excellent dish.
Billie brings to the table an emaculate-looking Cookies & Cream Choux Buns which is a treat to the eyes and the taste buds all at the same time. Billie’s dish impresses the judges so much that they let her know right away that she will not be heading to the upcoming pressure test. Daniel brings his dish up next and he gets quite nervous and underconfident as he serves his Pan-Seared Quail Breast with Charred Cauliflower Florets.
While serving his dish, Daniel lets the judges know about doubts he has about himself and how he feels lost in the kitchen sometimes. But, the judges empower him and also appreciate his beautifully made dish.
Keyma’s dish is a Mandarin Peel Creme Caramel with Crushed Orea Soil. It is a dish well done and the judges really like it a lot. Alvin’s Cauliflower dish is gives judges a tasty bit. Both Montana and Sarah’s Quail Mandarin mix is also something the judges truly like but, some elements of the dish put them back.
Mindy’s Quail wontons with Quail broth and crispy prawns taste delicious but Jock finds a bone left in the dish which potential hints toward Mindy landing in trouble. Aldo is the last one to put his dish. It is a Panzanella Salad with School Prawns that misses the mark when it comes to taste.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 46: Final Thoughts
A cute little challenge to test quality rather than grandiose. It was a strategic play to know which contestants in the top ten cook intricately and the ones that don’t. It is almost sad to see Daniel not realize how much he has progressed through the show and hopefully, in the future he will know where he is heading. As for Billie, her dish was truly brilliant. Sadly, Mindy and Montana ending in the upcoming pressure test only because they missed out on bones in their dishes is a sad turn of events.
