Few dishes had all the fire that was needed and few dishes had their flames going out in the last episode of MasterChef Australia Season 14. This left us with contestants heading for the pressure test in MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 37. The episode is titled, “Melissa Leong’s Cryptic Pressure Test”. The runtime for the episode is 47 minutes.
Alvin, Billie, Montana and Steph are the ones in the pressure test. Andreas Papadakis arrives at the MasterChef kitchen for this pressure test where judge Melissa Leong has a huge hand to play. Andreas brings in a kitchen a dish that the contestants have to replicate but, they cannot see the dish, taste it nor can they have a recipe for the dish they are going to prepare. So, how will the contestants cook?
– MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 37 Recap Contains Spoilers –
Well, judge Melissa seems to be the rescue the contestants have as they are going to have to make the dish based on a review written by Melissa. As our favourite judge reads out her review, it is apparent that the dish for the cooks today is tiramisu. However, with Melissa continuing to read the review, it becomes quite clear that the review is more cryptic than one would expect it to with not many measurements and descriptions of vivid taste.
It is revealed that the contestants will only get to see the dish once they have finished making their own versions of it. With the time cracking, the cooks get to cooking. But, the audiences are not derived from the pleasure of waiting too long to see the Tipo classic make an appearance as we see the judges crack into the dish in a separate room, cherishing the taste and talking about the pressure looming on the contestants.
Steph, Billie and Montana are surely the dessert experts in the kitchen. So, it might seem tough for Alvin to compete. However, having a flair in dessert marking could also be a losing point today as the cooks might just make it more of their own dish than the one Andreas is holding hostage under the cover. Reading the review, the contestants slowly but steadily make their way to making the desired Tiramisu.

At the end of time, when it is the round of tasting, Billie moves in first. Her dish resembles Andreas very much and when the judges taste it, it is identical to Andreas in regards to flavour. Surely, a commendable job is done by Billie. Montana’s dish is next. It does not resemble Andreas’ a lot with the chocolate disk being a different size and the cream having a different colour but, it tastes very close to the Tiramisu brought in by Andreas. This scores Montana good points for technicalities.
Alvin’s presentation of the Tiramisu is close to Andreas’ in presentation, flavour and texture. Although the brownie is a tad bit off, the amazing sauce wins him all the points. Steph brings her dish at the end and, it is noticeably different from Andreas’ dish. Moreover, when judges taste the dessert, the missing vanilla really puts Steph’s dish in a bad place.

Even though everyone tried to make their best out of the review at hand, it turns out to be Steph’s dish that falls short when compared to the others. Thus, we see Steph eliminated from MasterChef Australia Season 14.
MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 37: Final Thoughts
MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 37 was really a hard one. This different kind of pressure test really evaluated the contestants’ instincts as well as how well they can formulate a dish without the recipe. It was a pleasant surprise to see Alvin stand tall and strong against the dessert queens of the kitchen. However, it was really unfortunate to see Steph leave after a dessert challenge.
