MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 30 Recap: Get Your Greens Right

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 30 is called ‘All-In Elimination: Greens and Herbs’. As the title suggests, the episode will have a challenge that will focus on green vegetables and herbs. Judges Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo, share the rules with the contestants. All the cooks except for Julie will be a part of the elimination challenge.

In the first round, the cooks have to guess the name of the green veggies and herbs placed on a big wall in the kitchen. Five contestants who fail to get the names right will be sent to the second round. Contestants Matt, Daniel, Billie, Sarah and Ali, fail to guess the names in their second attempt and enter the second round. These contestants have to cook a dish in 75 minutes, highlighting the Greens and Herbs. The least impressive dish will send its maker home.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 30 Recap Contains Major Spoilers

Ali, Billie, Daniel, Matt and Sarah are worried at the beginning of the cook. However, they decide to give their best as no one wants to leave the competition. Daniel decides to cook using one of his least favourite ingredients, kale. In the MasterChef Australia Season 14 kitchen, it is Daniel’s second Kale dish. He cooks Braised Kale, Cucumber broth with aniseed and cinnamon chilli oil. The judges love his dish.

Initially, Sarah is confident with her cook. But she gets worried about not giving her best and going home with an immunity pin. Sarah decides to use her immunity pin and is safe from the elimination. Matt’s dish Brassicas with tarragon and pistachio also makes the judges very happy. Andy, Melissa and Jock also enjoy Billie’s Green dessert, Curry leaf parfait with passionfruit, coconut and white chocolate.

Sadly, it wasn’t a good day for Ali in the kitchen. Ali decides to experiment with her dish, but it doesn’t impress the judges. Ali’s dish is Green Gnocchi with bronze fennel oil, haggis and orange. While her Green Gnocchi was good, the judges were happy with the flavour the pieces of orange added to her dish. Hence, Ali gets eliminated from the cooking competition.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 30: Final Thoughts

It was another fair round of elimination. It was startling to see the contestants who have so far made the best of the dishes worrying about not getting the greens right in their cook. However, Matt, Daniel, and Billie proved why they deserve to stay in the competition with their cooking.
