Loki Memes: Tom Hiddleston Fans Use Humour to Shield Their Pain

Immediately after watching the first episode on Disney+ Hotstar, Marvel fans flooded Twitter with Loki memes. Episode 1, titled Glorious Purpose, proved a grand opening to something big in the coming episodes. Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson starrer proved that the MCU series is a lot more than just a different timeline. After WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, this series is the third MCU Phase 4 project that’s released.

If you haven’t watched the first episode yet, you might have to think before reading further. Many fans have revealed spoilers in their Loki memes. Some even shared out of context spoilers to play it safe on the internet. But overall, these memes are funny and hits the right spot.

In Loki Episode 1, the God of Mischief learns about his life and death till Avengers: Infinity War, the death of Odin and Frigga and how he shared a good bond with his brother Thor. He is shattered and breaks down in tears after watching his file at the Time Variance Authority (TVA). TVA has lots of infinity stones, and some of them use them as paperweights.

To get these infinity stones, Thanos killed his daughter Gamora and many others. Tony Stark, Natasha Romanoff and Vision sacrificed their lives to save the world. But at TVA, these stones mean nothing. The realisation hits Loki, and he realises how powerful the place is. The episode had many such brilliant, funny and heart-rending moments. Along with making the fans happy, Loki Episode 1 also gave them enough content to create memes.

A fan shared, ‘welcome to the multiverse of sadness #Loki‘. Another tweeted, ‘PUNCHES WALL THROWS CHAIRS AROUND BANGS HEAD AGAINST WALL CRIES SOBS SCREAMS.’

During a virtual press conference, Tom Hiddleston shared his thoughts on Marvel fans loving his character. The actor said, “There are some people who are drawn to his vulnerabilities, under all these layers of charm and charisma. There is something really relatable about vulnerability.”

He thanked the writers for writing such a tricky character in the Marvel comic. The British actor said, “I owe it to the writers, everyone who has ever written this character. Starting from Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Don Payne, to Michael (series writer Waldron) and his amazing team.”

After the cliffhanger ending with a major reveal, all eyes are on Loki Episode 2. The second episode will release on next Wednesday at 12:30 PM IST on Disney+ Hostar. Created by Michael Waldron, Kate Herron has directed the Marvel series. It also stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Tara Strong and Richard E. Grant in pivotal roles.
