Here’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live your nomad dreams that are too tempting to escape. Inspired by the growing flexibility to work and live from anywhere, Airbnb recently launched its “live anywhere on Airbnb” venture calling for interested candidates to join. This is a program for 12 intrepid travellers to live exclusively on the beautiful villas across the globe listed on Airbnb for approximately a year, free of charge.
Each participant will be allowed to bring at most 3 partners to be part of the ‘live anywhere on Airbnb‘ program. Anyone above 18 can start their own nomadic journey – be it young adults to remote workers, empty nesters, and more -for 12 consecutive months, starting this July to July 2022.
The reason behind the initiation of such a program appears to be the growing popularity of long-term stays in private home rentals, as per reports. It is becoming feasible due to the booming culture of workation as a lot of people are embracing their work from anywhere, which has definitely become more popular due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the program “live anywhere on Airbnb”, the 12 lucky people (and their comrades) will have utmost flexibility when it comes to blurring the lines between working, living, and travelling, all at the same time. According to a survey, 74 per cent of customers, across five countries, expressed their interest in living and working somewhere else away from where their employer is based, once the pandemic is over.
The study also found that the percentage of rural nights booked in Australia hiked from 18% in winter 2019 to 42% in 2021, thus increasing the demand for rural listings and unique homes like farm stays where families can take their kids on a farm stay adventure.
Whether it’s joining Zoom meetings by the beach, visiting the countryside with the family out on a road trip, picking up a new language in an alien city, or living in the Bay of Islands – you can make the world your home with ‘live anywhere on Airbnb’! In the words of Debbie Campell, a long-term Airbnb guest, “Live anywhere on Airbnb will give even more people the opportunity to see the world through a whole new lens just as we have. We’re excited to see more people living and working from wherever they choose.”
As a part of ‘live anywhere on Airbnb,‘ the company will cover the cost of accommodations and also pay for the volunteers’ transportation for the whole duration of the program. Those who take part can even choose to host their primary residence on Airbnb as accommodation on the platform during their travels and earn extra money on the go. It’s a smart move for anyone who wants to host and make the most of the upcoming travel surge. Reports have revealed that about 50 per cent of properties received a reservation request within four days of the activation of a new listing that was activated and booked in Q1 2021.
At the end of their one year stay, each participant of ‘live anywhere on Airbnb’ would be required to give their feedback on product changes that could revamp long term living experiences in Airbnbs, and share their exposure with real-world insights on the facilities and services provided while living the life of a vagabond and also popularize the financial benefits of hosting while travelling. All this information will help the company to curate ideal accommodations with regards to long-term stays for both solo travellers or families. This will assist them in upgrading their products and bringing about innovations in the future.
