Kozhikode Sarada, Veteran Malayalam Actor Passes Away

Veteran Malayalam actress Kozhikode Sarada passed away at Kozhikode on Tuesday, film industry sources said. The 75-year-old actress was admitted to the hospital due to difficulty in breathing. She was ailing for a while and she breathed her last at the very same hospital where she worked as a nursing assistant. She was last seen acting in Sreevalsan J Menon’s short film ‘Jara.’

She made her acting career through the stage and it was in 1979 that she made her debut in Malayalam films through ‘Ankakuri’. She was also busy in the television industry here. In her career spanning close to four decades, she donned the greasepaint in around 90 films, often playing the role of a mother and side characters. She was dominantly seen in films including ‘Sallapam,’ ‘Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu,’ ‘Kutty Srank,’ and ‘Ennu Ninte Moideen.’

Pinkvilla reports that the actress Kozhikode Sarada suffered from a cardiac arrest on November 10, 2021, Tuesday during the morning hours while undergoing treatment. Thereafter her demise was confirmed and declared.

Kerala’s Minister for Films and Culture Saji Cherian condoled the death of Sarada and said she was a very strong actress who was seen in roles she played and she is going to be missed. Her last rites would be held at her home town near Kozhikode on Tuesday.

Such a talent was lost to the world, the loss is truly irreparable when you look at the film industry. The veteran actress will be dearly missed by all and her films are forever going to give everyone a nostalgic trip and be reminiscent of the great work she has done and the mark she has left on the industry.
