Komi Can’t Communicate Season 2 Episode 1 Review- A Perfect Restart

Makoto Komi Can't Communicate Season 2 Episode 1

Life is too short to spend without having Komi-san in it. This show is a welcome addition to any season of anime because we can always use what it brings to the table. A bunch of cute moments stringed along by fantastic characters and a great setting make this a phenomenal comfort watch. If you missed season 1, first of all, why? Second of all, this episode did a perfect job of building upon the new story that it was going to tell alongside reminding us of what the show is all about.

Komi Season 2 Episode 1 was a fantastic primer to the events and characters of season 1 that we all love and did a great job in reminding everyone why this show was so great in the first place. It followed the exact same formula as season 1, but if it ain’t broke, why fix it? In fact, one could even argue that not shaking up the formula was essential for this episode because there is a very specific reason people were going to come back to this show, which was to watch what they already liked.

Tadano komi Komi Can't Communicate Season 2 Episode 1

The season’s hook was the new weather, the new school session, and the activities that bring along. That is a pretty strong way to start the latest outing and even fits with where the show left off and why it ended where it did. This gives the show a new layer of paint despite not much time having passed from when we left it off. It still retained the same feel and innocence that was present and appreciated by so many. The show hasn’t skipped a beat since the last time, and it is great to see it continue its momentum.

The new character introduced in Komi san Season 2 Episode 1 was Makoto, and he was just the perfect addition to the show’s ever-expanding recurring cast of characters. His interactions with the rest of the class were hilarious. Still, the real highlight of this entire episode was Tadano using his Komi spider-sense to resolve another issue that troubled someone he barely knew. It gave a lot of credence to Tadano and affirmed his status as the glue that holds the craziness of this sho together with his normalcy. When you have people like Yamai Ren and Nakanaka, you absolutely need a Tadano.

The phenomenal production quality has also stayed consistent with the previous season. The animation looks as crisp as ever, and the great music has been mostly kept the same from season 1. There are sure to be new additions to the soundtrack later in this part, but it was a good decision to keep the first outing consistent with the previous one. This was a great start to the new season of the show. If you didn’t guess already, we will be following the Netflix release dates for the show. See you next week!
