The new true crime docuseries Killer Sally on Netflix explores the real-life events of the convicted murderer and former professional bodybuilder Sally McNeil, who shot her husband in 1995, on Valentine Day’s Eve. The three-part docu-series follows the trajectory of the crime and its courtroom trial. Moreover, the average running time of each episode is one hour.
The series predominantly features real-life footage featuring Sally McNeil and her family. And also includes interviews with his son, daughter and family friends of Ray McNeil. Furthermore, the series is directed by Sundance-winning filmmaker Nanette Burstein (Going the Distance, American Teen).

From what we know after watching the series, Sally pleaded not guilty to the murder of her husband and cited self-defence as the major reason behind her actions. The case was made into a courtroom drama filled with sensationalism by the media and completely turned the public image away from her. Her lawyer tried hard to push forward her claim, but the District Attorney presented strong facts pertaining to the case.
In the end, Sally McNeil was given a sentence of 19 years, with a final verdict of second-degree murder. Which broke all the hopes for the professional bodybuilder, who was already termed a cold-blooded killer by the jury. In the series, this particular moment is shown as extremely emotional, where Sally knew how long she will be away from her kids.
The former Marine eventually served the full sentence of 25 years before finally coming out of prison. She was granted a home by the vet transition services, and also acquired a job to financially support herself. Sally also reunited with her daughter and son, who went through their own share of trauma, after serving in the marine service.
The mini docuseries then shifts to 6 months ahead, where Sally is shown to be getting married to her boyfriend. Her son and daughter also attended the wedding and wished their mother the best for a new life. Even though she had years of trauma and abuse to deal with, Sally McNeil chose to live a new life of peace and love.

Just seeing the children that man was abusive!!! I don’t need to hear from his friends her friends.
Unfortunately it is tragic he was killed but I would have rather it be him than her and those kids.
And the prosecuting attorney you can say anything about how any one act after a tragedy of that nature
I was her I would of felt relief now me and my kids are safe and it’s not that easy for abused women to leave and she said one thing I can relate her walking out with the gun he would of killed her if she didn’t follow thru
Ill say it wasnt a tragedy! What happened to sally and her children were a tragedy!!! No one can imagine being abused like that. Its terrible and almost impossible to get out. She deserves justice!!
Unfortunately, the dead can’t defend themselves.
Nobody is blaming the abusive and manipulative woman Sallly, which she shares the equal guilt as Ray. Women main weapon is their tongue like a venomous sneak firing damaging, words after words attacking you putting you in a fight or flight position. Sally could have ended this abusive relationship along time ago if in truth Ray was only carrying all the blame, but crazy abusive Sally shot him after living years of relationship, while he was defenseless in kitchen two times in row in his face, which is actually first degree murder.
Hate a venomous sneak ya know? Lmao
Yes! why did she get sentenced for long?! The system is F’d. This woman couldn’t even defend her self. He was so much bigger than her. Those poor kids said they were relieved he was dead!
