Kartik Aaryan’s recent performance in Netflix’s ‘Dhamaka’ has earned the actor some good words. After his breakthrough performance in ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, Kartik had gone on to take up more commercially successful projects which aimed more at stereotyping women and negatively reflecting on feminism. Irrespective of his good performance, the films never really received positive flags from the critics until the actor decided to break his trope by doing in best in Ram Madhavan’s ‘Dhamaka’. However, before he starred in the Netflix film, the actor had taken another step in not being typecast.
When Karan Johar announced the sequel to ‘Dostana’ starring Janhvi Kapoor and Kartik Aaryan in the lead roles, the audience did create hype as it would be the first time the actors would be sharing a screen together. However, in the earlier half of 2021 Dharma Productions announced that Kartik would no longer be part of ‘Dostana 2’ stating creative differences as an issue. Dharma Productions issued a statement that read: “Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence – we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D’Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon.”

As reported by Pinkvilla, during a recent event the actor refused to comment on ‘Dostana 2.’ It was during the Agenda AajTak 2021 when Kartik stated that he would not like to comment on the project. The actor instead stated, “I am not a part of any Bollywood camps. I have reached here because of my talent. And I will do the same in the future. I don’t want to comment on Karan Johar’s film Dostana.” Meanwhile, there has been no update from the production house of ‘Dostana 2’ either on the film.
