It looks like some Hollywood stars are finally reacting to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars. Actor Jim Carrey has shared his thoughts on the entire incident. The Mask actor is not pleased with Will’s actions. He also slammed Hollywood for giving a standing ovation to Smith when he won the Best Male Actor (Lead) for his performance in King Richard.
Carrey said, “I was sickened. I was sickened by the standing ovation. I felt like Hollywood is just spineless en masse, and it just — it really felt like, ‘Oh, this is a really clear indication that we’re not the cool club anymore.”
On CBS Mornings, Jim Carrey shared his views with Gayle King. The actor who’s promoting the film Sonic the Hedgehog 2 further said, “I felt like Hollywood is just spineless en masse, and it just — it really felt like, ‘Oh, this is a really clear indication that we’re not the cool club anymore.”
Carrey added that he would’ve sued Will Smith if it were him instead of Chris Rock. Jim stated, “I’d have announced this morning that I was suing Will for $200 million because that video was going to be there forever. It’s going to be ubiquitous. You know, that insult is going to last a very long time. If you want to yell from the audience and disapprove or show a disapproval or say something on Twitter or whatever — you do not have the right to walk up on stage and smack somebody in the face because they said words.”
