Sitting on the train, Kyung-yi tells her teammates that she’d appreciate it if Yi-kyung kills Yong Sook and her family. As everyone is left shocked, she goes inside her mind palace (maybe?) and finds Seong-u there who tells her that Yi-kyung is just like her, but she is still young and alone. Hearing this, she comes out back to the real world.
Meanwhile, in Inspector Koo episode 11, Yi-kyung asks Seong-tae where Hyeon-tae is. The guy is so pitiful that he buys into what Yi-kyung is saying about how losing his brother would result in him winning for sure and tells her where Hyeon-tae is. On the other hand, Hyeon-tae has run away from his “prison” and walked straight into the arms of Kyung-yi and her team.
They take Hyeon-tae to Yong Sook and ask her to turn herself and her son in to the police. Of course, she’s not interested and tells Kyung-yi that she just wants to one-up Yi-kyung and isn’t interested in them. Back at her home, the entire team wonders what they can do to get Yong Sook to confess and what to do with Yi-kyung in Inspector Koo episode 11.
The next day, in Inspector Koo episode 11, Hyeon-tae’s horrible video comes on the news and everyone is left shocked. Although Yong Sook and team try to do everything in their power to get rid of the rumours, it’s difficult to get rid of such things. Yong Sook promises to a sobbing Seong-tae to set things straight, whatever it takes. Well, that means that she goes to meet Kyung-yi to ask for help to keep Hyeon-tae alive.
Kyung-yi tells her that she doesn’t have the power to do that, but she has a plan which would require her to not doubt her. Later, when Yi-kyung meets Gun-uk, it turns out (to no one’s surprise) that it was Kyung-yi who actually let the truth about Hyeon-tae slip. Back at the office, Gyeong-su gets a mysterious message from Yi-kyung to meet her in the men’s washroom. He meets her and gives her the necessary evidence to kill Yong Sook and her family.
At an event, Yong Sook gives a moving, and totally fabricated, speech about Hyeon-tae and how everything that the media knows is a lie that will come to light soon. But her speech comes to a screeching halt when someone from the press throws acid on her face. She is taken to the hospital where Kyung-yi meets her and asks her to bring Hyeon-tae in front of people.
Yi-kyung tries to trick Hyeon-tae out of his lair and prepare 1 billion won to keep himself safe from his family, who are apparently trying to kill him. He falls for it and says that they need to keep him perfectly fine to get the entire money. He meets up with Yong Sook and tells her that he is tired of acting like the perfect son and after the press conference, he will leave the country and be as he pleases. After he leaves, Yi-kyung disables Yong Sook’s car, knocks Mr Kim out and takes her with them.
Meanwhile, Hyeon-tae’s press conference is an absolute pandemonium where fans override all security protocols and jump on him. Yi-kyung gives a bound Yong Sook two options – save Hyeon-tae and kill the 20 horrible people or the other way around. Unfortunately, though, she doesn’t tell her that if the 20 people die, so will Seong-tae who is bound there. In the end, she chooses to save Seong-tae instead of her younger son.
There’s another twist! Now she has to choose between the 20 people and save herself. She again chooses the 20 people and Yi-kyung realises that something incorrect is going on. She opens up her bandages to find Kyung-yi sitting there. Yi-kyung then goes through a horrible screaming tantrum as Kyung-yi mentions how much time she took to get to that point.
Final Thoughts: Inspector Koo episode 11
Inspector Koo really has gone off the deep end. With the acid attack (or some chemical attack, I guess) and Kyung-yi trying to be quirky at this stage, it’s just an annoying mess. The show started out with a unique twist where there were two very similar people on very different paths of the law – nothing too spectacular, but interesting nonetheless.
But with Yong Sook and so much importance that she is being given, plus the two brothers, it’s just too much of silly thrills that don’t go anywhere. I would rather have liked to see Kyung-yi trying to figure out who K is and various twists and turns on that side, but as the season comes to an (almost) end, it’s becoming apparent that this is just going to end with the generic good vs bad rhetoric, and a very lazy one at that.
