Insomniacs After School is a romance and drama anime based on a manga written and illustrated by Makoto Ojiro. The series is animated by Studio LIDENFILMS and is also known as Kimisomu Episode 5 and Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia Episode 5 in original Japanese.
The Astronomy Club suffered a terrible tragedy when one of its members committed suicide some time ago. The club and where they used to work, the observatory, are all lying empty without use. It is the perfect scenario for two outsiders who don’t know a better use for their time to accidentally meet and go on a journey that would change their lives forever. They haven’t lived much of their lives, to begin with, so it’s not that big of a deal.
Grumpy insomniac Ganta Nakami stumbles across the moderately rebellious yet easygoing Isaki Magari in the Astronomy Club’s abandoned observatory. Magari is surprised and tries to avoid a confrontation, only to be stopped by a broken door, forcing the two of them inside. The two forge an unlikely friendship, leading them to use the observatory as a safe space for them to interact and discuss the one thing that ails them both- inability to sleep.

Ganta has been extraordinarily hard on himself, and things have gotten bad to the point that he even screamed at his teacher for not realizing how debilitating his insomnia is for him. This episode should see the consequences of that come to bite Ganta. Maybe he isn’t allowed to go on the same trip as all of his classmates, or something even worse. Whatever happens, Iskai is going to be there for him, seeing what we saw in the previous episode.

It will be interesting to see how the other characters that the show has been featuring affect their budding friendship, which has the potential to go much further. Insomniacs After School Episode 4 Recap
We hear from Magari’s classmates who are interested in hearing more about the astronomy club and Ganta, especially one girl who just absolutely seems to despise him. Ganta loses a game of Shogi because of being reminded of the same thing. We also see Ganta being extremely hard on himself due to not immediately being able to take photos very well, which is not helped by Yui’s method of teaching. Ganta also spirals into a rage at his teacher, who frustrates Ganta with his opinions about sleep and insomnia.
