Hulu’s Palm Springs Review: Light-Hearted And Fun

Palm Springs made its way to Hulu on 10 July 2020. It stars Andy Samberg, Cristin Milioti, and J. K. Simmons alongside other cast members. Directed by Max Barbakow, the movie is the best comedy film this summer!

Andy Samberg is a breath of fresh air, he lightens the viewer’s mood as soon as he is on screen. With the movie Palm Springs, he has yet again effortlessly (or that’s how he makes it look) managed to bring laughs on the audience’s face.

The Infinite Time Loop!

After all, everything we do is meaningless. -Sarah

Palm Springs
Cristin Milioti as Sarah and Andy Samberg as Nyles

The premise of the film revolves around Sarah and Nyles getting stuck in a time loop i.e., every time they sleep they wake up on the same day, November 9, the wedding day of Tala and Abe! And the day pretty much goes about the same for everyone because they are living it for the first time but not for Nyles and Sarah.

The film carries on development, absurdity, flaws, humour perfectly in the characters (Just Nyles and Sarah, everybody else is in a loop, duh!). With all the humour, though, the film strikes an unexpectedly tender, almost bittersweet chord, the humour is shadowed by sorrow, loneliness, helplessness but ultimately love.

Palm Springs
Camila Mendes as Tala and Tyler Hoechlin as Abe

Palm Springs is not the first movie with a time loop (Happy Death Day, Predestination, Donnie Darko) but what differentiates the film is that nobody in this loop knows why they are here, why are they stuck, who created the loop and who will end it. The movie is genuinely funny and does not force lame jokes on the viewers!

Palm Springs tells you how reality can be endless and meaningless! It may feel real but it might all be a stimulation, So live every day!

Roy (J. K. Simmons,) also plays a commendable man who gets stuck in the loop while he is high on drugs! So, avoid being high and stupid!

STREAM IT! Palm Springs is an adorable movie. It’s well-executed with an interesting story and an amazing cast. While Andy Samberg is the drama and comedy, Cristin Milioti is the emotions and hope and J.K Simmons is a lesson to embrace and accept what you have!
