SonyLIV’s Homecoming Review Contains No Spoilers
After seven years, a group of college friends reunites in a small theatre in Kolkata. It’s a bunch of individuals who have performed in college dramas and theatres and are passionate about the art form. Some have pursued careers in drama, while others have made their impact in other fields. They all are gathered at a theatre that is about to close. Hence, some people are experiencing grief. The reunion brings many memories, emotional experiences, and closure.
Reunions can be joyful, emotional, dramatic, entertaining, or all of if. Watching these distinct individuals come together and talk life, art, and love in Soumyajit Majumdar’s #Homecoming film on SonyLIV hits home. Kolkata is a melting pot of artists and people with a deep appreciation for the craft. It is pretty evident in every frame of Majumdar’s film. Every character has something to offer that is worth listening to.
Homecoming also proves that people can sometimes get closure on things they left behind years ago. The meeting becomes an opportunity for things to come full circle, whether it’s love, friendships, or conversations. These are, however, only a few hours of reminiscing about the good old days. In a flash, life confronts you with reality. But what I noticed was that some people appeared to be different versions of themselves at the end of the day.

The mesmerising music in Hindi and Bengali is what made SonyLIV’s Homecoming more wonderful. Every song is exquisitely composed, written, and sung. The lyrics express the feelings and thoughts of those who are present. Despite many characters, the plot never becomes tiresome or confusing. It’s a simple story about old friends reuniting after years apart, and their interactions now have a lot of depth.
Sayani Gupta as Sri and Hussain Dalal as Imroze give phenomenal performances. They have some of the best scenes and dialogues. Soham Majumdar, Tuhina Das, Plabita Borthakur, Tushar Pandey, and the rest of the cast also do an incredible job in their parts.

Homecoming Review: Final Thoughts
Overall, Homecoming is a remarkable reunion of heart, art and soul. It’s packed with a captivating tale, great music, and impressive performances. It’s yet another proof that SonyLIV is putting out some brilliant stuff for its viewers. About the film, Soumyajit Majumdar had earlier said, “This musical was a lifetime experience for all of us. The love and passion of the misfits towards the film will reflect on the screen. Reunions, friendships and comebacks have found a home in #Homecoming.”
Well, he indeed has given a sweet 90 minutes film that’s worth watching.
The movie will be streaming on SonyLIV from February 18.
