The battle between Gabimaru and Chobei rages on, but this time the odds are clearly stacked against Gabimaru. Chobei awakens in an entirely new, demonic form, one that strips away what little humanity he had left. His behavior changes drastically as his mind becomes clouded, turning him into a merciless force driven by a single urge to kill Gabimaru. In this state, Gabimaru finds himself at a severe disadvantage, especially since he can no longer recall how to use his Tao.

Before the fight can reach its conclusion, outside interference brings it to a halt, leading to a series of important developments. The two groups finally reunite and take stock of their situation. Seeing how badly injured Gabimaru is, Sagiri insists that his wounds be treated first. During this time, she notices something deeply unsettling, that Gabimaru claims he no longer cares whether he lives or dies. Sagiri immediately realizes this isn’t the man she knows; the Gabimaru she met was driven by his desire to return to his wife.

Choosing to trust her instincts, Sagiri approaches him without fear. This moment becomes pivotal, not just for Gabimaru’s recovery but also for Sagiri herself, as she finally comes to understand what Gabimaru truly means to her. Through Tao and controlled bodily techniques, she manages to pull him back from the brink. Meanwhile, Chobei’s path takes a darker turn. He separates from his brother and ventures deeper into the monster-infested layers.

This episode opens with Chobei facing off against Rien, who wishes to see how things turn out. On the other hand, Fuchi and Asagiri ask Mei about Tensen and herself. Interestingly enough, Benimaru asks the dominant fighters from his group to attack him altogether so that he can train his powers. He has recovered his memories, but he is still not strong enough to fight against his enemies. Just when he gets attacked, he realizes how Tao actually works. It is a very important power that he must utilise, but at the same time, he knows that he will never be able to defeat his enemies precisely because they master Tao.

On the other hand, Chobei, who was captured by Rien, finds himself bound. Without asking for his consent, Rien tries to do Bochu jutsu with Chobei, and he just asks about the mystery of this island. In this episode, we get a lot more information about the lore of the island and how it came to exist in the first place. We also learned that the mysterious superhuman beings are in the process of concocting an elixir because of which all the people came to this island in the first place.

We also go into an in-depth description of what Tao actually is. Chobei also gets to know that Tensen’s main goal is to transform everyone on the mainland into elixirs of immortality. Chobei gets the choice to actually choose a path where he can either join the Tensen or go against them. What he chooses, you will have to see the episode to find out.

Verdict

I really like today’s episode because of all the vast information that we got, and also because of how disturbing the history of Tensen is. The descriptions were intricate, and the animation was also really good. But this episode has a lot of nudity that was used to showcase the Bochu jutsu section.
