Hawkeye’s Jeremy Renner Reveals Asking Marvel to Recast His Role, Here’s Why

It is difficult to imagine any one apart from Jeremy Renner playing the role of Marvel’s Clint Barton aka Hawkeye. Yet it would be shocking for the audience to know that the actor was close to being replaced from playing the iconic character. The actor reveals why and what ultimatum he gave Marvel Studios to retain him in the role.

The actor is presently all set to star in the upcoming ‘Hawkeye’ series on Disney+ Hotstar, where he is joined by Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop. This Christmas delight takes place in the post-blip Marvel Cinematic Universe where Hawkeye and Kate confront enemies from the past such as Ronin and others to get back to their families in time for Christmas.

During a recent interview with Men’s Health, the ‘Wind River’ actor recalls the time he gave Marvel Studios to recast Hawkeye if they did not give him enough time to spend with his family. Renner reveals that he wasn’t concerned about the role and rather wanted to make sure he has enough time to spend with his then newly born, Ava Berlin back in 2013. The actor reveals travelling back and forth for a year and a half from London to Los Angeles over weekends in-between shoots.

The actor told Men’s Health, “It taught me how to have the guts to say, ‘Everyone, f**** off. It’s my time with my daughter. “I said, ‘Fine, recast me. I’m going to be here with my daughter.’ It was pretty gnarly.” It was not only MCU but all the other projects the actor was connected to at that point in time. He says that acting and everything else would go out of the window until his daughter said, ‘I want to hang out with my friends, and I don’t want to be around you so much, Daddy.'”
