-Furies Review Contains No Spoilers-
With a tragic backstory, three women outcasted from society find each other to fulfil their purpose. They faced traumatic events caused by men towards them, and hence they set out to rescue the young girls who had a similar fate. However, they were brought together by a mysterious woman with a similar backstory and the same goal. In a world full of men, those furious vigilantes’ only motive was to make it a safer place for females.
The story starts off typically by introducing the lead character, Bi and providing a glimpse of her past. She is soon recruited by Ngo’s character Veronica or Aunty Lin, who introduces her to Thanh and Hong, with whom she forms an intimate bond eventually. Filled with rage about the injustices of the world, she starts to train rigorously to bring down the criminals.
The most stand-out aspect of the movie is the action sequences. The scenes are choreographed and synchronised to perfection. Moreover, the hand-to-hand combat martial arts scenes are thrilling to witness, and along with the inclusion of weapons, the scenes are made to look realistic. Intense motorcycle-chasing segments will absorb the audience entirely. Incorporated with VFX and CGI, the scenes elevate the storytelling process. The effects are used to their fullest and provide a visually enthralling experience.

Besides the exciting action sequences, the camera work is another notable aspect. It provides a first-person and up-close view of the fighting scenes. Fluorescent light is often used in many scenes, which takes us back to the classic old heroic films. Additionally, the music is another element that enhances the plotline and sets the overall tone of the movie.
The first half of the movie contains a routine plot and sticks to it. But the last few minutes of the movie will make you sit on the edge of your seat with anticipation. The morally grounded characters change their paths and take up the selfish route, which was unexpected, to say the least. Instead of dividing the characters into black and white, the creators chose to view them in a grey area.
The actors did a phenomenal job of carrying out the extreme action segments. Veronica Ngo, as usual, delivered a spectacular performance with limited screen time. However, Dong Anh Quynh stood out the most with her raw expressions and fierce presence. Pop star Toc Tien was able adequately to portray an abrasive character and maintain it throughout.
